Rob Zombie’s NEW Halloween Trailer

August 1, 2007 Horror 1 Comment

So with Halloween drawing near, haunters are getting events ready and hollywood is gearing up for the coming out on August 31, 2007. The teaser was amazing, and now the official new trailer makes us get ready to wait in line. I’m not one for remakes but its shaping up to make people scared of Myers once again.

ROB ZOMBIE’S HALLOWEEN: OFFICIAL FULL TRAILER

1408 Review by The Haunted Report

June 25, 2007 Horror No Comments

Oh Samuel L Jackson how do you rock so much? The is of course my favorite quote from Samuel in his new movie called 1408. 1408 opened this weekend and stars Samuel L. Jackson and a John Cusak. This qoute comes after John Cusak’s character goes on rant about what is causing all the problems in 1408. “Is it ghosts, so called poltergists, long legged boogie men?”

To which Samuel L. Jackson replies “It’s simply a Evil F#@$ing Room…”. Awesome. Having never really seen a John Cusak movie before I thought he did a wonderful acting job. The best part about 1408 is not that it’s a killer classic man vs. haunted environment movie, it’s that it’s actually scary!

Yes I said scary and I am sticking by it? Aren’t there lots of scary films out right now you ask. Well no. I mean the previews of this film were Captivity, Halloween and some other piece of nameless crap. (Maybe Hostel III?). The problem with these films are they are not scary. I’ve said it a million times before and I am sure I will said it a million times again, torture/splatter movies are not scary. There is nothing to think about. Let me ruin captivity for you. Girl and guy have sex. Bad guy watches and is pissed. He then captures said girl and tortures her to near death before she escapes. It’s like the iPhone. All sexy and no brain. There is nothing in any of those films that creeps into your mind and make a nest. 1408 did just that. At least once last night I got that creepy feeling and went to my downstairs window to look around (see the film and you will understand why) Sure there are jumps and boo scares in the current trend of torture films but nothing that actually creeps you out or trips you out. I mean what is the takeaway from Hostel 2?

1408 is all about that. This film is really reminiscent of some other Stephen King films. The one it reminds me most of is “The Shinning”. This film is all about a selfish man and what lengths he will go to make things right with his family. Also this movie is not just a horror movie, it’s a trip movie. Much in the vein of “The Shinning” or “Silent Hill” this film takes us for a trip between what’s real and what’s not. John Cusak’s reality is constantly being played with along with ours. And in the end that’s what makes 1408 not only a good horror movie but a good movie overall. So prepare to get scared and loose your mind a little. That’s what good films are all about….

Hallows Point Director Jeffrey Lynn Ward

May 29, 2007 Horror No Comments

This last week on Rotting Flesh Radio we welcomed writer and director Jeffrey Lynn Ward from Hallows Point to the show. Jeff stopped in and talked about his upcoming film, the idea behind it and also the use of the Haunt Industry’s very own, SPFX Masks as the main character in the film.

We explored how he modified the mask to fit his FX needs and how the actor really makes the mask come to life and makes it his own while wearing it. Jeffrey also talks about his take on the Haunt Industry, what he felt were the highs and lows of HAuNTcon.

So what exactly is the film about? It started as a harmless bet but for a group of Hallows Point High students, this Halloween will turn into the ultimate nightmare. Trapped in an abandoned schoolhouse with an evil they helped create, but cannot defeat, the students are ill-prepared for their last lesson… in terror! Twelve high school students lock themselves into an abandoned schoolhouse on Halloween night and accidentally resurrect their former biology teacher who was a serial killer. The teacher, Nathanial Raber, is all too willing to come back and give these poor unfortunate souls their final exam.

Hallows Point stars David Naughton (American Werewolf in London), Christa Campbell (Wicker Man, 2000 Maniacs) and Tom Nowicki (The Punisher, Remember the Titans). The movie also stars a talented group of young actors including that you will be hearing a lot about in the upcoming year.

Above you can see EXCLUSIVE Hallows Point photos ONLY Released to Rotting Flesh Radio. So tune in to the newest show for Jeffrey’s Interview as he proves he is a RFR DEADITE and also lets us in on his film.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween

March 19, 2007 Horror No Comments

Well in the midst of the most anticipated Horror Re-make of all time, Rob Zombies HALLOWEEN, a re-make of the classic film, many are super hyped about the film. I do have to admit, at first I was against it. But then I was thinking of Zombie’s director style and what he could bring to the table. I also then read how he is staying with the classic theme, and keeping the original design for the Myers Mask. So then I was starting to respect his re-envisioning of the film. So in the super hype of the film this was released by the USA TODAY

‘Halloween’ returning in Zombie-vision format Michael Myers isn’t just a murderer, he’s misunderstood. So says Rob Zombie, who is bringing Michael back to the movies in Halloween, opening in August.

“It starts off when he’s a kid,” says Zombie, director of The Devil’s Rejects and House of 1,000 Corpses. “Act 2 is him in an asylum.” Zombie’s films are notorious for their twisted gore, but that’s not what drives people to movies, he says. “They have to care about the characters. Michael Myers in the past is usually a stunt man wearing that mask. He’s a fully formed character in this.”

And that famous mask — in the original, it was a Capt. Kirk Star Trek mask painted white — gets a back story, Zombie says. Gore may not be what sells a movie, but this Halloween will have Zombie’s bloody fingerprints on it. “It’s a very hard R — as extreme as it can be. The violence is brutal and it’s real.” Jamie Lee Curtis played a babysitter stalked by Myers in the 1978 original. In this version, Scout Taylor-Compton plays the role. Zombie’s wife, Sheri Moon, plays Michael’s mom.

“Michael Myers is a character that for the last 28 years has degenerated into a popular Halloween character,” Zombie says. “People will be shocked he’s back to being a hard-core terrifying character.”
