Robert Englund to bring Halloween fun to Hawaii 5-0 in their Halloween Special

Robert Englund

Robert Englund

Robert Englund, no stranger to us here at Rotting Flesh Radio, has been a guest a variety of times for us. He is best known as his role of Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and has a large cult following in other films as well.

Well just in time for television and Halloween Fun, Robert is going to play a homeless veteran of the first Gulf War and become a suspect is a murder as he ventures around an ancient burial ground. This is going to happen where else, in the most beautiful of places… Hawaii 5-0.

Robert has been known to have cameos in many television roles, movies and more and now his presence for horror fans around the world can be seen in the Halloween edition of the sleeper hit re-boot of Hawaii 5-0.

The show has gained in popularity and it this reboot has introduced a new generation to the cop duo in the show. Each week they banter, uncover crimes and more. While Robert, has been best known as Freddy Krueger, is in our friend John LaFlamboy’s MOLE MAN movie, had his last screen appearance as the clawed killer in Freddy vs. Jason. The franchise has since been re-booted without Robert donning the make-up. It didn’t hit too well with fans and that shows in the quick disappearance of the new face of Freddy.

Be sure to catch the new season of Hawaii 5-0 when it kicks off on September 19, 2011 on CBS. And be on the lookout for Freddy, playing an actor named Robert, or vice versa.

Let the Halloween Episodes Begin: Pretty Little Liars ‘Halloween’ Sneak Peak

Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family

Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family

As the Haunt Season draws near, many television shows have fun with the holiday and Halloween Episodes roll on out. We recently talked about this on the site with out Housekeeping with Roseanne write up from the RFR Casket Crew.

Well in keeping with that tradition ABC Family has given viewers a sneak peak into the Halloween World of Pretty Little Liars with their Halloween Special Episode.

The mid-season finale of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ will address the question from episode one in the series, who killed Alison. Executive Producer Oliver Goldstick has said “Well, that’s what out there. Whether that’s going to be true or not, we’re still going to have some twists and turns.”

The summer finale has currently wrapped on Tuesday, August 30th and it will take a hiatus until the January Season begins. However, fans of the series can enjoy a special Halloween Romp in a holiday episode just for the fans, taking them back to when Alison alive on the ABC Family Series.

The Halloween Episode will air on October 19, 2011, and will showcase how Alison herself once received a terror from someone who could be “A”.

Check out the teaser video below and tune in for a Halloween Episode on October 19, 2011.

Greetings Deadites.  We all know that it’s never too early (or too late) to watch some Halloween-themed TV shows, and as I was sifting through the endless hours of downright crum-crapto programs clogging the airwaves, I found a classic gem bouncing around in space that deserves a quick shout.

Hat ON.

Roseanne Halloween Treats

Roseanne Halloween Treats

Most of us are probably familiar with the sitcom Roseanne that ran from the late 80s to mid-90s, and I’m sure that many Deadites know that the annual Halloween shows became as iconic as The Simpsons‘ “Treehouse of Horror” specials.  For those Halloween junkies out there, though, who have not seen those episodes, perhaps because they didn’t grow up with the show or maybe because they didn’t particularly care for the sitcom in general, those Halloween-themed episodes are definitely worth a watch.  There was clearly a deep-rooted love of the Halloween season among the show’s writers and creators, and each of those episodes was crafted with even more love and attention than the more mainstream “Christmas” episodes that would have been featured on the traditional sitcoms.   The detailed sets and original costume designs, combined with the edgy humor of the show, created a memorable collection of Halloween tributes.  My favorite is the earliest one (“BOO!”) that showcases the family’s impressive home haunt and serves as a reminder that you don’t always need the most expensive equipment or technology to create an effective experience.

If you have Netflix, you can stream these all now.  Or you could pick up the brand new Roseanne: Tricks & Treats Halloween collection DVD scheduled for release Sept. 27.  The 8 episodes to be on the lookout for are:

1. “BOO!”
2. “Trick Or Treat”
3. “Trick Me Up, Trick Me Down”
4. “Halloween IV”
5. “Halloween V”
6. “Skeleton in the Closet”
7. “Halloween – The Final Chapter”
8. “Satan, Darling”

Also as a quick final note, last fall’s Halloween episode from the current show Modern Family is also definitely worth a watch. Again featuring a home haunt and some impressive makeup and costuming, it’s clear that this show also harbors a fondness for the holiday and serves as another reassurance that a love for the holiday, NOT deep pockets, is the key to crafting a memorable experience.

GRIMM - The Series Coming Soon to NBC

GRIMM - The Series Coming Soon to NBC

It’s getting closer, Deadites.  This past weekend the haunt where I work kicked its preparations into full swing.  From now through Halloween, it’ll be full steam ahead there, and I can feel the little orb of excitement in the pit of my stomach growing.  While we in the live haunted attraction entertainment industry are working feverishly to ring in the new season with a bang, our friends in other facets of the entertainment industry are doing the same, especially in television.  This year is shaping up to be a stellar year for spooky entertainment on television, and while I was disappointed that FOX didn’t pick up Locke & Key, I’m still very stoked with the multitude of offerings that we will have, proving that the interest in all things creepy is growing exponentially, perhaps because now more than ever we all need rabbit holes through which we can escape reality.  Since our minds will primarily be on polishing our haunts when the new television season begins, I’ve compiled a little rundown below of what I’m looking forward to in particular, both in new and returning shows, to which I can unwind in November once I’ve scrubbed the bodily fluids from the floors of my Haunt and picked the last of the coloring out of my hair.  I’m sure that some of these shows will quickly prove to be more successful than others, but with the amount we have to choose from, there surely have to be at least a couple of winners here.

Hat ON.

Alcatraz (FOX, Premieres 2012):  Currently planned as a 2012 midseason replacement, this series will investigate the strange reappearance of a group of Alcatraz prisoners and workers.  J.J. Abrams (Lost, Fringe) is an Executive Producer.

American Horror Story (FX, Premieres Oct. 5):  Details on this one are still a bit sketchy, but it sounds killer.  A family with real problems of its own moves into a haunted house…I’m sold.  The brief teasers that they have tossed to us are stylishly creepy, and given FX’s abilities to push the envelope, I’m definitely in for this one.

Fringe (FOX, Returns Sept. 23, Airs Fridays @ 9ET):  This is slightly out of the Haunt league, but I expect there are plenty of sci-fi fans out there who are looking forward to the return of one of the most consistently best-written series to hit the airwaves.

Grimm (NBC, Premieres Oct. 21, Airs Fridays @ 9ET): This series claims to bring Grimm characters of lore to the present day, mixing them with current situations and adding a dose of police procedural storytelling.  It sounds like this will probably start out as a Monster-of-the-Week type of show which is oftentimes fun.

American Horror Story on FX

American Horror Story on FX

The River (ABC, Premieres 2012)  Another midseason replacement, this series filmed as a documentary chronicles a family’s search for its patriarch who has gone missing somewhere in the Amazon, yielding a shocking, deadly discovery.  Details are a bit vague, but of course with Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) as an Executive Producer, this is worth a look.

Supernatural (CW, Returns Sept. 23, Airs Fridays @ 9ET): Monsters, battles between angels and demons, clashes between heaven and hell.  It’s a nice reminder that there are other families out there with endless strife.

The Walking Dead (AMC, Returns Oct. 16 @ 9ET): No explanation needed here.  It’s gonna rock.

There are a few others out there that as of right now aren’t on my watch list, such as The Secret Circle (CW), Once Upon a Time (ABC), or Awake (NBC), though other Deadites might enjoy them. So did I leave out any that you’re looking forward to?  Speak up in the comments.

New Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXII: Flanders Goes Dexter on Us

One of the things everyone looks forward to in the Haunt and Horror Industry are upcoming movies and Halloween on TV. Yes, that annual event of enjoying your favorite television shows get all decked out for Halloween. And one of those major ones we all tend to love is THE SIMPSONS TREEHOUSE OF HORROR!

The annual Treehouse of Horror show is kicking off on October 30th, 2011 and this year one of the many segments will pay homage to the one and only psychopath himself Dexter.

The Treehouse of Horror XXII, will show Flanders as both a normal family man as well as a dark evil passenger, like our friend Dexter. I think this is going to be a pretty fun one, as we here at RFR are fans of both programs.

Entertainment Weekly and Dread Central got the first look at the video clip and it seems that after all these years, The Simpsons still have what it takes to be a parody, fun, entertaining and make an awesome Halloween Show.

The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXII will be coming to your TV this October 30th, so set those DVRs.

Haunt Tactics, a supplier of Costumes and Props for the Haunted Attraction Industry is also the supplier for Zombie Go Boom.

Haunt Tactics believes that the Haunter is your tactical advantage. With NEW Zombie Armor they have created full body zombie costumes. Poor Marilyn: Part of America’s First Halloween Families of the Golden Age

by: RFR Casket Crew Claymation Werewolf

While I was in the yard today, watering the weeds, I was thinking about the American family. My thoughts of course soon turned to one of the first families of Halloween, The Munsters. I have always been a huge fan of The Munsters and still to this day delight in their presentation of the all-American way of life.

While the show likes to explore the spooky side of things in a good natured kind of way, one element of the show rises past the light-hearted fun side of classic monsters and crosses straight over into the realm of terror. One character on the show cranks the horror up a notch and adds the edge that has made it tough to watch for some more “sensitive” viewers. I’m sure you’ve guessed by now that I am, of course, speaking of Marilyn Munster. Never before in the history of television have producers dared to present a character so gruesome, so terrifying and so plain! How Marilyn is related to a family as normal as the Munsters, no one will ever know.

Marilyn Munster - The Sexy Spook

Marilyn Munster - The Sexy Spook

Let’s take a closer look (if we can bear it) at what separates this unfortunate girl from her more normal relatives. While she tries her best to fit in it’s obvious on sight that Marilyn Munster is destined to be an outcast. First of all she’s blonde. Blonde! Her hair is the golden color of sunshine on a field of flowers. It’s enough to make you sick, it isn’t dark or oily in the least. If that wasn’t enough, the rest of her is, if anything, even more plain. Her body is soft and curvaceous without the smallest hint of that sallow rigor mortis look that drives all the boys wild. And her complexion doesn’t have a single flaw or scar. Her skin seems to glow with life and color, and sometimes (and this is difficult for me to say) a tan. I mean, one would think that the girl had never even been dead! Her family is constantly trying to find a nice sickly looking boy to take her out but it can’t be easy. The boys that Marilyn seems to go for look like they should be on the cover of one of those horror mags you see at the supermarket checkout lane; GQ, Esquire, Sports Illustrated and the like.

Despite the unappealing nature of these young men, they don’t stay interested for too long. Even when she does find a boy patient enough to date her and brings them home to meet the family, they end up running away in terror.

And who can blame them? After all the girl never learned how to sew spider webs, can’t bake bat soufflé to save her death, and when she dusts the house she actually REMOVES the dust that was already there! She enjoys sporting events, dances, even rock and roll concerts! Worst of all she goes out in the daytime, on purpose! Picnics, strolls in the park; the whole nine yards. There seems to be no limit to her bizarre behavior.

I’m a strong believer that variety is the spice of life and I like to think that there is someone out there for everyone. So maybe somewhere there might actually be someone for Marilyn Munster. Despite her flaws, her many, many flaws, she really is a sweet girl and always seems to try her best. Maybe she can find a boy who can overlook all these little quirks. Look past the radiant skin and the bright blue eyes. The sunny personality and the strange daytime hobbies…But the blonde hair? How much can one guy take?

Talk to you again real soon, and until next time…Sit Back, Relax and Rot Away! And have a nice day.

The Walking Dead Figures Series 1

The Walking Dead Figures Series 1

Daryl Dixon: An abrasive survivalist, and brother of the outspoken racist Merle, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is an all-new character created specifically for the AMC TV series. The figure comes with a crossbow, hunting knife, fire axe, pick axe and a string of squirrels.

Zombie Walker: The Zombie Walker, clad in a dirty business suit, was encountered by Rick Grimes during his first excursion into Atlanta. Upon Rick’s arrival, the walker rose from the wreckage of a city bus and followed Rick to an abandoned tank. The Zombie Walker comes with a special wind-up feature, so the undead figure can actually walk!

Zombie Biter: Found feeding on a deer in the forest near the survivors’ camp, the Zombie Biter was beheaded by the group—but didn’t stop until Daryl arrived and shot it in the brain with his signature crossbow. The figure features a deer meat accessory and a spring-loaded moving jaw—this Zombie Biter really bites!

There is also a figure coming with Rick Grimes. These figures will be coming to the shelves this November just to get us ready for Season Two of the Walking Dead TV Series we are all waiting for. For more information be sure to visit the McFarlane Website by Clicking Here
