Morbid Manor Haunted House Dark Attraction Opens Big

Morbid Manor Haunted House

Morbid Manor Haunted Attraction

Morbid Manor is the All-New Haunted Attraction that can be found at the Sportland Pier. It recently has opened to the public for the first time this past week to outstanding reviews and compliments from Haunt Enthusiasts and Dark Riders alike!

Morbid Manor is the a self guided walk through haunted house in the same vein of a classic dark ride, without the omni movier style moving system. Previously it had a working title of “House of Haunts” has been gaining alot of attention since it debuted. Most are in awe of the fun, detail, spookiness and the overall fun factor to the 3,000 square foot attraction.

The Haunted Attraction has the essence of a classic Mansion with a variety of Live Actors, Animatronics, and Special FX exclaiming they are the scariest and spookiest, most fun attraction you can find on the boardwalk! We will see how this holds up once another, yet rumored, Haunted Attraction is set to open at Sportland Pier later in the summer of 2011. So far the pier and area seem to be a pretty sweet hotbed for Haunted Attraction with Morey’s Piers’ Ghost Ship and the Morey’s Fears Halloween Events, it seems the golden age of boardwalk, pier fun is back in the Haunted Attraction Amusement Arena and it is about time and long over due.

These kind of events used to be the must-see events at piers and boardwalks tracing our Haunt Industry History to those early days of attractions. These are what defined the Haunted Attraction we know of today!

So keep your eyes peeled for more to pop up and a new trend in attractions to be born.

Moxley Manor is open on Friday the 13th, as well as the 14th (May 13-14)!

Friday the 13th is a marked day; whether it is for the cult classic horror film with Jayson Voorhees or for many that are superstitious.

The sixth day of the week and the number 13 both have foreboding reputations said to date from ancient times to endure more misfortune than some credulous minds can bear.

This year Moxley Manor Haunted House will be open for the only Friday the 13th of 2011!

As an added bonus, they will have the ladies from Assasination City Roller Derby on hand, as well as Monster Energy on Friday!

Johnny and the Undead by Terry Pratchett

by: RFR Casket Crew Denise

Johnny and the Undead by Terry PratchettJohnny never knew for certain why he started seeing the dead. The Alderman said it was probably because he was too lazy not too. Wobbler Johnson, who was technically Johnny’s best friend, said it was because he was mental. Yo Less, who read medical books, said it was probably because he couldn’t focus his mind like normal people. Normal people just ignored almost everything that was going on around them, so they could concentrate on important things like getting out, going to the lavatory and getting on with their lives. Whereas Johnny just opened his eyes in the morning and the whole universe hit him in the face. Wobbler said this sounded mental to him. What it meant is this – Johnny saw things other people didn’t, like the dead people hanging around in the cemetery.

All this started when young Johnny started walking home from school instead of taking the bus. He would walk through the cemetery because it was faster than going around and Johnny was disappointed that it wasn’t spookier. Once he forgot about all the skeletons on the ground, it was quiet friendly. Birds sang, all the traffic sounded a long way off; it  was peaceful.

The first time Johnny saw a dead person was when he walked right up to one of the mausoleums and knocked on the door. When the door opened, he ran for it. After talking with his friend, Wobbler, he went back and talked to the ghost.  And that’s when the ghost, all the ghosts,  discovered that the cemetery had been sold and would soon be turned into a business park and they would all lose their homes.  They demanded that Johnny talk to the local council on their behalf and stop them from selling the cemetery.

Johnny takes a day to come up with the perfect way to talk to the council about the cemetery. He figures that if the council knew how many famous people lived in the cemetery, the council would be forced to leave it intact. So Johnny begins to write down the names on the grave stones and take them to the library to research. What he discovers was there were no famous people living in the cemetery.  Beside researching the dead, Johnny has other things his mother expects him to do – like visiting his grandmother in the nursing home.

“It wasn’t that Sunshine Acres was a bad place, it was clean enough. There were bright murals on the walls and a big tank of goldfish in the TV room.  It was more gloomy than the cemetery. It was the way everyone shuffled around quietly and sat waiting for the next meal hours before it was due. It was as if life had stopped and being dead hadn’t started.”

The more Johnny thought about what the ghosts in the cemetery expected from him, the more he grew frustrated. He thought to himself they never told you about this ghost stuff at school. Sometimes the world was so weird that you didn’t know where to start.

But Johnny does find a way to face the city council. He appeals the council’s decision to sell the cemetery so convincingly that the townspeople rally around him in support.  Meanwhile back in the cemetery, the ghosts are having their own realizations; they don’t have to stay in the cemetery. As one of the ghost put it, “I’ve spent half my life being afraid of dying and now that I’m dead, I’m going to stop being frightened.”

Johnny and the Undead is a charming story of a young boy who is faced with the fact that he is growing up and learning that by getting older he must be responsible not only for his actions but those around him. He must stand up for those who can’t protect themselves like the elderly, and yes, the dead. But probably the best lesson is that Johnny realizes he has friends that will stand beside him even if they do consider him to be “mental.”

This novella will appeal to the younger Deadites out there. Those who quite haven’t jumped into the deep dead end of the spooky pool. You have to start somewhere. So Sit Back, Relax and Rot Away…

Halloween Memories, Fall Leaves, Cold Weather and McDonalds?

Growing Up, Halloween was a MUST in my house. From Trick Or Treating, to all the elements that bring back those memories…Fall Leaves, Brisk Cold Nights, Charlie Brown on the TV and McDonalds. WHAT did I just say McDonalds?

McDonalds back in its marketing heyday knew how to target things and make them memorable, not the corporate look and feel that leaves them lifeless now. But who doesn’t rmember a good old Happy Meal and with that came the commercials. Commercials that were set apart along the Saturday Morning lineup.

These commercials were fresh, fun and memorable like a late night with Elvira, or Zacherly the Cool Ghoul. Well, we finally got Elvira back on TV this last week, now let’s see if we can make Halloween memorable again for our kids with some good old fashioned commercials for junk food and Trick or Treat Pails.

Well now for a limited time you can get a FREE Music Download from the band to show their appreciation for all its fans support over the years. In their official release it states:

“Hello fiends,
As a special gift for all your years of ongoing support, we’ve decided to offer up our instrumental ‘Death Of A Doll Maker’ as a free download on our new Bandcamp page. We tried to set it up the free download on our Myspace player, but it didn’t seem to like that idea too much and the link doesn’t want to show up. So, when you go to our Bandcamp Page and you click on the download link it will ask for your e-mail address and for you to set your own price, you can either pick zero or any type of donation (if you have any pennies to spare), but we are making it available for free. So please download the song, tell your friends about it, e-mail about it, tweet about it, send your friends the link, etc. Just be magically whisked away to our new Bandcamp Page where you can download the song free of charge.”

So while you can you need to get this sweet FREE offer from Creature Feature. I know we have gotten our copy, and so should you. For more on the band Creature Feature visit: www.CreatureFeatureMusic.com and stay tuned to RFR as we work to get the team on the show soon.
