Spookyworld is Celebrating 20 Years in style with ‘THE FEAR AT FENWAY’ this Season!

The Fear at Fenway

The Fear at Fenway

Well, who says things can’t get better with age. The Spookyworld Event is celebrating 20 years this year of scaring patrons, sending chills down your spines and leaving you frightened. And to kick that off with a bang Mike ‘Tattoo’ of Bad Boys Scenic Design is kicking off The Fear at Fenway!

“For the first time in its 20 year history, SpookyWorld is coming to the City of Boston and will present The Fear at Fenway, located at historic Fenway Park. Visitors to the Fear at Fenway will experience three haunted attractions and the event promises to be the PREMIER Halloween event of the entire year!

America’s Horror Scream Park turns 20!

This year, SpookyWorld is celebrating 20 years of delivering the most intense, exhilarating, adrenaline-charged Halloween experience to all who have dared to visit. Join us for the celebration!”

To engage in the festivities there will be not one, not two, BUT THREE Haunted Attractions for you. The First being the Brigham Manor

Brigham Manor

Brigham Manor

Among the oldest manors in the Commonwealth, this distinguished home was witness to thirteen known atrocities in the 1800’s—acts so depraved and unspeakable that historians who dared to chronicle the events have met a savage fate themselves. Through the years efforts have been made to restore this old manor to its former glory, but the spirits that dwell in the stately rooms have unleashed tragedy to those who tempted fate by calling this manor home. Feared by locals, today the Manor sits neglected and empty….or is it?

The Hancock Hill Cemetery

The Hancock Hill Cemetery

Next up is the Hancock Hill Cemetery. Hundreds from Boston’s most illustrious families–and some of the area’s most notorious characters–have been entombed on the historic grounds of Hancock Hill. Once considered to be the most beautiful, peaceful place to be laid to rest in New England, Hancock Hill soon became a landmark simply known for being evil. Dozens of attempts have been made to expel the evil that pervades the grounds, but to this day the cemetery is home to a wickedness that refuses to rest and relentlessly haunts the surrounding communities…

3D Freakout

3D Freakout

And finally you can experience the 3D Freakout. Step into the Freakout where you never know what awaits around each corner! A twisted labyrinth of color and motion, nothing is as is seems. Try to avoid being ensnared by the unpredictable creatures that stalk the hallways and infected by the pestilent fiends that proliferate faster than they can be quarantined. Can you escape the noxious fumes steaming from barrels of unknown origin and wreaking unimaginable damage? No corner is safe from the menacing beasts that compete to rule this unholy realm of horror. This is battlefield for Freaks vs. Clowns; be sure to keep your wits or next the battle may be them vs. you!

The Fear at Fenway is scheduled to kick off October 28 every night through November 6, 2011.

Indiana’s Scariest Haunted House ‘Fear Fair’ Unleashes a New Website for 2011 Season

Indiana's Scariest Haunted House: The Fear Fair

Indiana's Scariest Haunted House: The Fear Fair

With every haunted attraction comes promotion and a “look” to your event. This comes often in the form of a website for your Haunt’s online presence, feel and give that overall impression of your event.

Your website also serves as a portal for Haunt Dates and Times, Press Releases, Updates throughout the year to your crew and promotions, giveaway and even coupons. There is even that rare occasion of needing directions for some who are just finding you.

one way to keep evolving as a Haunt is by updating your site’s look and feel to draw in returing customers and to freshen your event. And the Fear Fair Haunted Attraction in Indiana has just kicked off their journey to the 2011 Haunt Season with a new website.

The new site gives a refreshing look to the annual attraction who just recently wrapped their Fear Camp this past weekend (Stay Tuned on Rotting Flesh Radio Show #243 for Coverage of the event).

The new website is what I would consider, dark, reminiscent of the event, full of nice saturated reds, blacks and color. The information is nice a easy to find, a BIG plus for any event. Most people are not living the Haunt culture, or Halloween life and are looking for an event to get their scare on. An easy navigation system makes it so they can find important information fast.

Overall, it is a nice, clean, spooky layout and will prove useful and informative to those looking to get haunted in Indiana. And with links to all their major Social Media pages, anyone can get connected fast.

To find out more about the Fear Fair and to see the new sight, 2011 information and more visit: www.FearFair.com

Put Some Monster In Your Pocket!

August 10, 2011 Halloween, Horror, News 2 Comments

by: RFR Casket Crew Claymation Werewolf

Hiya folks! Seems like here lately there’s been an awful lot of talkin’ about Monster In My Pocket. Kids today with their hula hoops and their electric widgets and discoteques have been all a’flutter over these multicolored mini monsters and questions have been a’flying fast and loose. What do they mean? Are the colors significant? Where did they come from in the first place? Why do you have so many of those Monster In My Pockets? Why do you just sit around writing those ridiculous blogs all day? Why don’t you get outside, maybe meet a nice girl…get a job and move out of my basement? Maybe make something of yourself, I mean you are 45 years old, Greg! Ahem, anyway everybody’s just gotta know more about these little critters…and don’t get me wrong they ain’t just toys. They made a cartoon or two, they made a videogame for one of them Nintendos. And to answer everybody’s questions; they even made one of them funny books to explain the “origin” of the Monsters. Now, I read that funny book and I gotta say; in the words of my Grand pappy “That’s pretty good, but it ain’t how I hear’d it!” You see I happen to know that those “toys“? Well they aren’t quite just children’s play things. And the monsters their based on? Well they happen to be real.

The Original Monster In My Pocket

The Original Monster In My Pocket

I suppose the year was nearabouts 1990 and unbeknownst to most of the world, America was dealing with quite a monster problem. Yes you heard right, monsters! You know them varmints from the movies; wolfman, the witch, chimera, invisible man and what have-you. Well them beasts were just running amuck and playing fast and loose with public safety and property. Folks were dying, disappearing, turning into vampires, etc and it became crystal clear that it had to stop. And those folks that make the big decisions (shadow government as I heard tell) they came up with themselves a plan. As you all know in the late 80’s and early 90’s most of the federal budget was devoted toward repelling the invasion force from the planet Melmac in retaliation to us capturing the head honcho of their orbital guards. It goes without saying that we couldn’t just throw together a Monster Hunting Battalion…boy I still remember the good old days when we DID put together Monster Hunting Battalions…good times. Anyway, they thought themselves up a doozy of a plan; let the people do the work. Americans are a resourceful lot and they always seemed to defeat the forces of evil with a reasonable success rate in the movies, so why not try it in real life! All they needed was some initiative; something to make it worthwhile for the average Joe and Jane out there. So they used the motivational tool that has kept people working harder, longer and using more creativity than anything else in history. They used the satisfaction that comes with doing your best toward a noble goal!

I’m kidding, they used money.

The ultimate plan introduced placed a specific point system, and dollar amount, on the monsters. The more dangerous a specific critter was, the more money its destruction or capture brought you. For instance the Behemoth was one of your more powerful creatures and brought nearabouts Five Million dollars! Compare that to a hunchback! Now a hunchback would bring you about 15 bucks and was hardly worth the trouble of clubbing one. On top of that, half the time it just ended up being an elderly person or someone with bad scoliosis and it could quickly become a pretty embarrassing situation. No, you were better off chasing the big beasts; more danger but a whole lot more reward. Someone who brought in a really bad beast like a TV programming executive, got enough reward money to buy the network, and in fact that happened more often in the 90’s than most people think.

Sgt. Mat “C.H.” Box ran the program as efficiently as a secret paranormal government program coulda been run and in fact received several top secret unofficial medals for his invention of the rubber toy currency tracking system. The medals were of course invisible but the plan they represented was brilliant. A line of “toys” was created and distributed thought the country and a strong advertising campaign made them a national craze. Once customers became hooked, the MIMP administrators began to place information on the REAL purpose behind the collectors items. Each toy represented its ghoulish counterpart; the rubber figures would serve as a visual guide to help in spotting the creature and were marked with the point each creature held to inform the hunter how much cash they would get for bringing it down. Everybody got really into “the hunt” turning in monsters left and right. In fact, even the monsters began to turn in each other. They would collect the reward money, get tossed in monster jail, eat all the guards and then start the whole process over again. After enough guards were eaten and the monsters dispersed, the program soon faded into non-existence.

With the monster population supposedly dealt with and some nice “walkin’ around money” in the pocket of hunters, everybody walked away happy. The toys became actual collectors items and joined the ranks of trends gone by. But friends, here is a secret just between you and your old pal Claymation Werewolf, those toys are still around if you pay close enough attention. And the real monsters? They‘re around too…try as they might, they never were able to get rid of all of us. Oops! I mean them…

Until next time, sit back, relax and rot away! And happy huntin’ …

Universal's Halloween Horror Nights 2011

Well just announced for Universal Hollywood is the addition of the 3rd (third) maze for the annual popular event utilizing the horror rock metal icon Alice Cooper! Alice Cooper who is a staple when it comes to pioneering horror and rock along with a stage for entertainment has his newest album, a sequel to his ‘Welcome to my Nightmare’ apty titled ‘Welcome 2 My Night’, and it is going to set the stage with all his horrific vision, creepy ghouls and more for the Universal Halloween Horror Nights.

As an Alice Cooper Fan here at Rotting Flesh Radio, we are stoked and know that the Dark Master of Macbre will deliver.

Official Press Release:
The legendary Alice Cooper, who single-handedly masterminded the rock-horror genre, will spin a new collection of disturbing horror imagery in “Alice Cooper: Welcome To My Nightmare,” an outrageous new “Halloween Horror Nights” maze at Universal Studios Hollywood. The event begins on September 23 and continues on select nights through October 31.

Alice Cooper's 'Welcome 2 My Nightmare'

Alice Cooper's 'Welcome 2 My Nightmare'

Inspired by the rock icon’s landmark concept album and its long-awaited sequel “Welcome 2 My Nightmare,” to be released on September 13 through Universal Music Enterprises,” the new attraction will take guests on a terrifying trip through Alice Cooper’s twisted mind, where his most famous songs, bizarre themes and demented characters collide inside a living horror movie.

This original, one-of-a-kind walk-through experience will feature trademark elements from Alice Cooper’s celebrated shows, including guillotine decapitations, electric chairs, a sadistic insane asylum, predatory snake and giant Black Widow spiders that have helped make his imagery timeless and indelible. Music will be a powerful element within the maze and will include both new and classic Alice Cooper material.

Recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Alice Cooper created the concept of the theatrical rock concert and has thrilled generations of fans with spectacular stagecraft and darkly flamboyant showmanship. His recording career spans six decades and includes over two dozen albums, many millions of record sales, countless world tours and appearances in scores of movies and videos, including a brief but memorable appearance in both “Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy’s Dead” and Universal Pictures’ “Prince of Darkness.”

Sharing his enthusiasm, Alice Cooper said: “We’ll be creating this living horror movie within screaming distance of the sound stages where horror movies first began, so there’s no place more appropriate to offer a preview of the new `Welcome 2 My Nightmare.’ This will be a nightmare that will haunt visitors’ dreams for a long time to come.”

Alice Cooper at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights 2011

Alice Cooper at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights 2011

John Murdy, Creative Director, “Halloween Horror Nights,” added: “There are few people in the entertainment business who can be called a true original. Alice Cooper is in that rare pantheon. As a life-long Alice Cooper fan who’s been motivated and inspired by his craft, I am absolutely thrilled by this incredible opportunity to collaborate with him on this new haunted attraction. It’s a nightmare come true.”

Alice Cooper will be a key member of a Hollywood horror “dream team” assembled by Universal Studios Hollywood to create the ultimate “live” Halloween nightmare. The team also includes director, writer, producer and actor Eli Roth, who will present the new maze, “Eli Roth’s Hostel: Hunting Season.” “The Thing: Assimilation,” inspired by Universal Pictures’ upcoming thriller, will add to the Hollywood horror clout.

“Halloween Horror Nights” 2011 will bring unprecedented star power to an array of unrivaled, film production quality mazes uniquely themed to today’s most definitive horror properties and deliver the most compelling, spine-chilling, haunted attractions. All-new terror filled “scare zones,” original shows and the popular “Terror Tram” will be among the ““Halloween Horror Nights” offerings. Additional new content for the 2011 “Halloween Horror Nights” mazes and attractions will be announced shortly.

The theme park’s favorite thrill-ride attractions will also remain open for “Halloween Horror Nights” as well, many with menacing twists. Favorites include “The Simpsons Ride®,” “Revenge of the MummySM – The Ride” and “Jurassic Park® In the Dark.”

The Strain by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan

August 3, 2011 Halloween, Horror, News 1 Comment

by: RFR Casket Crew Denise

The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan

The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan

A Boeing 777 arrives at JFK and is on its way across the tarmac when it suddenly stops dead. All window shades are pulled down. All lights are out. All communication channels have gone quite. Crews on the ground are lost for answers, but an alert goes out to the CDC. Dr. Eph Goodweather, head of their Canary project, a rapid response team that investigates biological threats, gets the call and boards the plane. What he finds make his blood run cold. In a pawnshop in Spanish Harlem, a former professor and survivor of the Holocaust named Abraham Setrakian knows something is happening. And he knows the time has come, that a war is brewing. So begins a battle of mammoth proportions as the vampiric virus that has infected New York begins to spills out into the streets. Eph, who is joined by Setrakian and a motely crew of fighters, must now find a way to stop the contagion and save his city – a city that includes his wife and son – before it is too late.

The Strain was written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. This is the first in a triology story.

The Strain is not your typical vampire story. Think of it more as a vampire story mixed with a little bit of alien technology mixed into the fray. You could also consider it a little bit of a whodunnit or crime drama. It’s certainly an interesting mix.

The story starts with an airplane that has gone “silent.” We quickly are introduced to Dr. Eph Goodweather and Nora. These two work in the CDC, in a special branch where Dr. Eph is the team leader. As these two try to put the pieces together, we get a glimpse into the life of Abraham Setrakian. A holocaust survivor with a mysterious past.

When these three eventually team up, we start to get a distinct visual of these new vampires. They are ones that eventually are turned by a simple bite. While this is the tradional vampire lore with exception – their tongues.

These vampires tongues are really a separate organ itself. It almost operates separately from the body. Maybe it’s the tongue that is large and in charge.

Eventually the story climaxes with the ultimate battle between mortals and vampires, good verus evil. Is there a clear victory. Well…you just have to read it for yourself.
