Tonight, June 3rd, 2011 is ushering in the kick off party for the Midwest Haunters Convention. So all you haunters who are in Columbus, OH tonight, or wondering what is going on while sitting in your hotel room…get your party straight jacket on for tonight’s festivities.

JUNE 3, 2011 MIDWEST HAUNTERS CONVENTION EVENTS

Complimentary Friday Welcome Reception, Haunt Tour and Party

This night of FREE activities is for all MHC registered attendees. We’ll start the evening with Phillip Morris of Morris Costumes! Yes the pioneer himself in the Halloween and Haunt Industry!

Join Phillip Morris for a cocktail reception (cash bar) to kick off the MHC. Phillip will present the topic of Spiritualism (séances, ghost houses, etc) and how that movement transitioned into today’s haunted attractions. From the 40′s to the late 60′s Philip Morris and a group of professional magicians toured all over North America in movie theatres, presenting their Midnight Ghost Stage Shows. These shows were the forerunners of today’s Haunted Houses. This up close and personal reception will be both informative and entertaining. Discover the beginnings of the haunted attraction industry and how Phillip was involved from the start.



Then the party is moving to the Terrorfest Haunted House.

After the haunt tours; we’ll return to the Hyatt Regency for a complimentary party at the Big Bar on 2 with a Scary-oke show and MHC Haunters Party in the Franklin Ballroom. There will be cash bars and they’re offering a Scary-Oke Buffet (fill up one plate for $10).

Haunters will have the opportunity to perform on stage during our party starting at 10:00 pm. Just sign up with the DJ for your opportunity to get up on stage and entertain our attendees. Entertainers are encouraged to perform in costume or fun attire! Stop by after the haunt tours for a party with your fellow haunters!

ABOUT THE TERRORFEST
The Terrorfest is located in the Brewery District, just south of downtown Columbus. This dark self guided tour will provide guests with a night of fright through this highly detailed haunted attraction.

Annual Great Lakes Fright Fest Haunt Gathering June 3-5, 2011

Alright Deadites, this is the busy weekend for many of you haunters and horror fans to get your fix. As we mentioned this week, you already have the Con Carolinas event, and the much anticipated 8th Annual Midwest Haunters Convention to get your fright fix on. These events will give you Seminars, Education, Celebrities and more. And if that wasn’t enough going on, you can also head on out with your Haunt Family and attend the Great Lakes Fright fest as well.

The Great Lakes Fright Fest is an annual haunters get-together for home and pro haunters alike. Located at a campground in South East Michigan.

The vendors were selling, the classes were taught, the animatronics were on demo, the scare tools go “pop” the haunt ball starts, see costumes with zest, as we vote to crown a new “Miss Scary Midwest“, See body art exquisite, dancing and drink, as the evening goes on, no once sleeps a wink,

Sunday is here, the show floor is loud, as pots of coffee are passed through the crowd

Con Carolinas Sci-Fi and Horror Event Coming To Charlotte, NC

As we approach June, the weather gets warmer, and conventions are in full swing. In a few days we have the Midwest Haunters Convention, and also coming June 3-5, 2011 to Charlotte, NC is the Con Carolinas Sci-Fi and Horror Convention.

This annual event brings you some of the best in Science Fiction, Horror and the Paranormal. This years lineup has somebody for everyone.

First off for you haunters who heard Tom Devlin on Rotting Flesh Radio, and saw him on the SyFy Channel Show “Face Off” know that one of his competitors was Conor McCullagh. Well Connor will be at the Con Carolinas as their Film/Media Special Guest. He will be talking with fans, friends and about FX and Make-Up. And the lineup continues with such names as John Billingsley, Bonita Friedericy, Carla Ulbrich, Justin Chung, Ghost Trek Cast & Crew, David H. Lawrence XVII, Addy Miller, Brinke Stevens and more.

With this linrup it is sure to be a fun weekend. Now on top of that there are also a variety of vendors that will be there selling items, collectibles plus a Gaming Room, Film Screenings and social activies that includes a Costume Contest.

All in all, if you cannot make your way to Ohio this weekend for MHC, then you should drive on over the the Con Carolinas event and kick off summer right with your chosen Sci Fi / Horror Bang!

ABOUT CON CAROLINAS:
ConCarolinas is a general multi-genre multi-media convention. We called ourselves a sci-fi convention but in truth we cover all speculative fiction – science fiction, fantasy and horror. It hosts a variety of fandom related events and guests, including gaming, discussion panels, costume events, music events like Klingon Karaoke, charity auction, SCA events, fan groups like the 501st Stormtroopers, Starfleet, and Klingon Assault Group, and something different every year.

In 2003 we held our first full-blown 3-day Science Fiction con – a longer Con than the 2-day 2002 “Prequel” the previous year. The Haunt Rocker Jerry Vayne’s New EP to Debut at Midwest Haunters Convention

The Haunt Rocker, Jerry Vayne will be at the upcoming 2011 Midwest Haunters Convention (MHC) and vending at Booth 115 with the Devishly Diva-licious Mommie D as his booth babe. While there he’ll have a LIMITED PRESSING of Damnations Embrace (as featured on Rotting Flesh Radio) plus his latest cd, Soul Collector, as well as a limited pressing of the MHC Exclusive EP ‘Sounds from ‘The Attic”, which features 6 tracks from his upcoming 2011 release ‘The Attic”.

There will only be 100 copies of the EP and there will be 2 versions available. 50 will have a 7th bonus track “Necromantix” specially recorded for the MHC EP and 50 will have an 8th track of the music-only version of the same track. Midwest Haunters Convention Friday Haunt Tour SOLD OUT!

PRESS RELEASE: Midwest Haunters Convention

Everyone who registered for the Friday Night June 3 haunt tour to TerrorFest will receive a ticket. We’ve received reservations for 800 bus tour tickets and 200 drivers tickets. We shut off registration for the haunt tour at 10:30 pm on Tuesday May 24.

The preconvention haunt bus tour SOLD OUT too. This will be our 8th year for the Midwest Haunters Convention. Our registration is up nearly 50% over last year. This is going to be our biggest show ever!

We have a limited number of Saturday night masquerade party tickets available. Most weekend classes are filling up too. Nick & Brian Wolfe, Geoff Beck, Bloody Mary and Kelly Allen will be teaching workshops on Friday. There are a small number of spots remaining in their classes. Where else have you seen a lineup like this?

Phillip Morris of Morris Costumes will host a Saturday dinner at the Hyatt Regency. Stop by after the trade show and relax to a great dinner and a fun presentation on the existence of Bigfoot. Phillip is going to share a secret.

ABOUT MIDWEST HAUNTERS CONVENTION:
The Midwest Haunters Convention (MHC) is the largest Halloween show of its kind in the US serving a primary audience of Haunted Attraction Producers, Actors, Artists and Home Haunters. It features a 60,000 square foot vendor trade show with over 75 vendor booths – and provides regional businesses and residents the opportunity to shop for professional quality Halloween related products. The MHC Trade Show is free and open to the public with registration; and is held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Ohio June 4-5, 2011.
