The All-New Haunted Castle on Santa Cruz Boardwalk Begins

Dark Ride Enthusiasts were sad last summer when the World Famous Haunted Castle on the Satan Cruz Beach Boardwalk was demolished. Dark Rides have always been fun and were the early beginnings of the current Haunted Attractions we all love now. I continue to love Dark Rides, and of course like most, Haunted Mansion is a must ride!

Well construction on the All-New Haunted Castle have begun. The new attraction will go through three stories. Yes 3 Floors! It is going to incorporate the newest Special Effects in the Dark Ride and Haunted Attraction Industries to date. I am sure the guuys over at DAFE are going to Love this one.

GETTING DEMOLISHED:

We are currently working on talking to the team who is putting together this all new attraction to get them on RFR soon to discuss it and what to expect. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk will get this breath of fresh air in its’ attractions sometime this summer is the ETA. We will keep you posted as it unfolds. So in a world where we love our walk through Haunted Attractions, the awesomeness of the Dark Ride still lives on.

THE NEW PLANS:

Raycliff Manor 2009 Haunt Season Night Vision Footage

January 5, 2010 Haunt Industry No Comments

2009 was a great year for the Haunt Industry and many Haunted Attractions were very successful in marketing and customers throughput this past season.

One of those haunts was Raycliff Manor. This event continues to grow with its owners and operators taking it up a notch each season. One of which you may know as Kelly Allen the author of the “So You Want To Be…” and “Fright Team Management” books from HauntBook.com

Well in the season is over and here is some Night Vision footage they captured during the season of patrons going through the event.

Pale Night Productions End of the Year BLOWOUT!

One of the most talked about vendors this past Haunt Season was Pale Night Productions and most of all their Asylum Door. And we have to admit, that item ruled at every Haunt we toured this season. Well, as the we continue with the RFR 5th Annual Morbidly Merry Christmas Celebration, why not some great Christmas Deals for you?

Pale Night Productions is having a huge BLOWOUT SALE for One Month and One Month only! Pale Night Productions will be offering some great deals on many of their already Low Priced products.

They have a large variety of items including that Asylum Door we mentioned. The Asylum Door is slashed and chopped to $3150 which normally retails for $3750. This animation is the first of it’s kind integrating CGI with an animatronic to create a truly unique effect. When triggered, a ghoul is seen coming down the hallway. She then attempts to break through the glass before hacking at the door with her axe which leaves actual dents in the door. The Asylum Door also comes with a full digital sound track. This prop must be seen to be appreciated.

Price includes pre-programmed control hardware, solid state video player, monitor, flow control valves, digital sound module, 6in. by 23in. mat switch trigger, and all necessary electrical and pneumatic connections. Prop connects to air lines with a 1/4in. male quick connect coupling. Requires 100psi compressed air and 110VAC electrical.

In addition they have their Cold Fogger for only $175. The Cold Fogger is everything you ever wanted from a fog machine and could never have. To begin with, it runs on mere tap water with no additives what so ever so there’s never any fog fluid to constantly replace. In addition, it produces a cold, dry ice like fog in seconds that hugs the floor or surface of your water source and if placed in a container like an oil drum the fog will spill over the sides and cascade to the floor. The effect is amazing and really must be seen to be believed.

There is even more items we have not mentioned so be sure to check out their BLOWOUT SALE page. And to top it off any order placed during this event must be paid in full by 12/31/2009 to receive the discounts listed…but products can be shipped early in 2010, held until the Transworld show for pick-up, or held until closer to haunt season 2010 for shipment. And you can also save on every other product in their entire inventory not listed on the sale page for an additional 10% off the already great retail prices.

Chad Savage resigns from IAHA Board of Directors

Helping the Haunt Industry move forward is the International Association of Haunted Attractions (IAHA). They continue to help promote the Industry and Haunt Owners, and provide tips, tricks, education and more to the Industry as a whole. Well Chad Savage of Sinister Visions, Inc. has officially stepped down from the Board of Directors.

Press Release:
After several years of providing graphic and web design/management services for the International Association of Haunted Attractions, as well as having served on the Board of Directors for almost 2 years, I have tendered my resignation from both the Board and as the on-call designer/web guy due to the simple fact that I can’t devote the time required to adequately fulfill either role anymore without penalizing my client base.

I will, of course, continue to support IAHA and its endeavors, but from now on as a vendor member.

For more information about IAHA visit: www.IAHAWeb.com and for more on Chad Savage visit: www.SinisterVisions.com

Clothing to Die for: For Haunters By Haunters and Special “rfrpodcast” Sale Code!

October 12, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

As haunters, we tend to wear dark colors to better blend in with our haunts. And often share, exchange and give out our shirts to fellow haunters. Well, when two veteran haunters walked through the convention floors they noticed something was missing. That’s when the idea of Deceased Clothing came to their minds. Clothing for haunters by haunters.

Created by Joel Fearon and Andrew Klokow, Deceased Clothing has now come to life to show the haunt industry that we can have our own brand. “We needed to have something for ourselves, something we could call our own and we decided to create the brand Deceased.” co-owner Andrew Klokow of Deceased Clothing stated. Many of you RFR Deadites will remember Andrew, known as Omro at the time doing Movies Reviews in the Chainsaw Buffet for the show.

The newly developmed company has some high end products that are going to haunt your world debuting soon. The quality is not your typical quick press shirts from any internet site. They are high end quality cotton tees, screened with supreme detail. And the debut shirt, really shows the direction they are going in this initial launch.

Deceased Clothing is now on sale with its debut shirt “Requiem”. And you can get a discount for this debut product by entering a RFR exclusive promo code. If you type in the Promo Code “rfrpodcast” you will receive a special discount only good until October 19th. For more about the company and to place an order check out: DeceasedClothing.com “Clothing to Die for…”

State Scare Factory: New Jersey’s Newest Ultimate Haunted Attraction

As we go around the United States we uncover some great haunts many around the nation may not heard of. And the State Scare Factory in New Jersey is to be filed as one of them. Created by State Fair Halloween and Scare Pro Productions, this event has proven to be a high end, top quality scare machine. With special effects and make-up from the dark imaginings of Hollywood FX Artist Anthony Giordano (a name you may know from past RFR Shows) from Scare Pro, has put together a haunt that has made a memorable debut season. Set in a 6,660 square foot warehouse. It has been said to be haunted by real ghosts, you can also be terrified by monsters, madmen and the crazy horrifying creations of Anthony’s make-up talents.

The event focuses on the scares, and his creations are based on the mood and feel of the room and setting. It’s not all about blood and guts, it’s about leaving that lasting impression to scare the hell out of the customer.

Tickets will run you around $15, but be sure to check out their website and social networks in advance for some deals. To plan your visit to the State Scare Factory check them out at: www.StateScare.com

The Haunt Industry’s Mike “Tattoo” Krausert Gets Some Southborough Halloween Loving

As RFR has been in the Haunt Industry for so many years, under RFR or Affiliated with a Haunt, we have known some individuals for quite some time and one of those is our good friend Mike “Tattoo”. Many in the industry know him from Terror on the Fox and most recently from Nightmare New England. Well, one of the RFR Casket Crew caught this artcile on our good friend. Congrats to Mike and enjoy the read.

By Abby Jordan/Daily News staff
Forget the cute or kitschy costumes. Growing up, Mike Krausert was the kid who went weird on Halloween, crafting the creepiest costume he could think of to frighten his teachers and classmates.

Things haven’t changed much for Krausert, a Southborough resident who, at 37, has built his career on masterminding some of the scariest Halloween attractions in the country. Only now Krausert has a bigger audience – he is the director of operations at SpookyWorld/Nightmare New England in Litchfield, N.H., where more than 72,000 people are expected to scream their way through seven haunted attractions, games and rides this month.

From directing bloody brides and killer clowns to masterminding scenes in cemeteries and the woods, Krausert has had a big hand in the more than year-long process leading up to tonight’s opening night of the 19-day season. “It’s a passion of mine,” Krausert said. “I’ve very fortunate to do what I love.”

SpookyWorld offers games like zombie paintball, go-carts and mini golf. Other attractions include live music and concessions. Three new haunts debut this year, including “Night Feeder,” “Demented” and “House of Eternal Darkness.” There’s even a burial simulator in which people lay in a coffin, the lid is closed, and the sounds, smells and motion of a hearse, funeral home and cemetery are unleashed.

The haunts are rated PG-13, aimed mostly at older kids, teens and adults, though Krausert said the attractions are nothing to take lightly. “There are no black walls or sheets saying ‘Boo’ here,” he said. “We pride ourselves on being the scariest and most intense Halloween park in New England.”

The familiar touches of local towns have found their way into the park. Krausert said he’s gleaned ideas for scary scenes while driving past old barns and homes in the area, and is drawn to headstones in a Milford cemetery…..
