Dark Imaginings

Were you one of the Haunters at Transworld, or maybe didn’t get a chance to attend? Well Dark Imaginings wasn’t able to attend as well so now they are passing on a deal for haunters to take part in.

“We here at Dark Imaginings have got some bad news and we’ve got some good
news.

The bad news is that we didn’t attend the Transworld Haunt Show this
year, which makes us very sad. The good news, however, is that we are pleased to announce our first-ever “NO SHOW” SPECIAL!

What is a “No Show” Special and why are we doing it? That’s easy. It is not always possible for us to attend every show that we would like due to various circumstances, travel costs, or other obligations. However, we
don’t want our loyal customers and new friends to miss out on our fantastic show discounts, either. While we will certainly miss seeing your ghoulish grins and smiling faces in person, we are very excited to be able to bring these savings to you.

But hurry, these “No Show” Specials will expire on March 31, 2012!!!

All New CEO Outlines Cedar Fair’s Long-Term Growth Strategy

Cedar Fair Entertainment

Cedar Fair Entertainment

With many amusement parks, the Halloween Season continues to be a fun time for their guests and special events. This also goes beyond just the Halloween Season and the rest of the entertainment years as well.

The All-New CEO has outlined Cedar Fair’s Long-Term Growth Strategy this week with a look at what the park has planned.

Release:
Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a leader in regional amusement parks, water parks and active entertainment, hosted an investor meeting in New York City today at which its president and newly named chief executive officer, Matt Ouimet, outlined his long-term growth strategy – known as “FUNforward” – and the corresponding financial goals for the Company.

“This is truly an exciting time for Cedar Fair,” said Ouimet. “Given our favorable industry dynamics – including significant barriers to entry and a loyal, high-repeat customer base – as well as the significant momentum we have created for the Company over the past two record-setting years, we see several attractive strategic growth opportunities in both the near and long term. We believe there are many compelling reasons for investors to choose Cedar Fair, and we are committed to rewarding them for their confidence in us with meaningful and sustainable value creation through a balanced approach of distributions, growth investments, debt reduction and unit repurchases.”

Ouimet cited Cedar Fair’s high-quality, well-maintained parks, its recognized stature within the industry as an innovation leader and its strong brand positioning as the core drivers of the Company’s financial and operational momentum.

“We are very proud of our properties and the men and women who ensure families and thrill-seekers alike have the ‘best-day-of-the-year’ experience they expect when they visit one of our parks,” Ouimet said. “It’s not an accident that we enjoyed our second straight year of record attendance – 23.4 million guests – at our 17 locations across North America in 2011.”

Cedar Fair’s award-winning parks – including Cedar Point, which was named the number-one amusement park in the world for the 14th consecutive year, and Kings Island, which was voted “Best Kids’ Area in the World” for the 11th straight year – are home to four of the top 11 steel coasters in the world and top-rated Halloween events.

“We believe we offer our guests compelling value by providing wholesome, exciting, quality experiences with the greatest thrill rides and family attractions, which is an especially strong entertainment proposition in today’s discerning consumer market,” Ouimet added. “Likewise, our goal is to continue to be a total return investment for our unitholders. Our recession-resistant business continues to generate strong free cash flow, which has allowed us to further strengthen our financial flexibility and make meaningful distributions to our unitholders while at the same time experiencing appreciation in our unit price.”

Components of the FUNforward strategy include:

Enhanced guest experience – Maintaining an unwavering focus on delivering compelling value for the price paid, at every park on every day. In the near term, the Company will continue to add new rides and attractions while at the same time expanding evening event activities to provide enhanced value and extend the length of each visit.

Improved consumer messaging and relationship management – Modernizing the marketing and sales strategy and execution to ensure the Company is most effectively segmenting its customer base and speaking to each audience with messages that “break through the noise” and create the proper emotional connection that drives action within the operating season.

Dynamic pricing and advance purchase commitments – Incorporating a new e-commerce platform common to other industry players. The new platform will provide real-time data and dynamic pricing modification, while supporting incremental programs such as season pass installment sales and up-sell of benefits and value.

Premium product offerings – Expansion of premium experience offerings for benefit-oriented guests. Examples of this will include premium parking and dining experiences, “fast lanes” at various high-demand attractions and “Fright Lanes” during Halloween events, among other things.

Strategic alliance fees and promotional leverage – Industry benchmarking indicates an opportunity for the Company to expand its strategic alliances while still protecting the integrity of the guest experience.

Capital and expense productivity – Prioritizing capital to the highest return-on-invested-capital opportunities across the Company’s portfolio, encouraging manufacturers to innovate at lower costs and remaining disciplined in the management of costs. The Company will also look to utilize its undeveloped land to drive additional park admissions through activities and investments that leverage its installed asset base.

“It’s important to have a balanced mix between thrill rides and family attractions,” said Ouimet. “We are investing approximately $90 million across all of our properties and have a very strong rides and attractions menu for the 2012 operating season.”

OUTLOOK

According to Ouimet, the Company’s preliminary results project 2011 net revenues to be approximately $1.028 billion, and project Adjusted EBITDA of approximately $375 million. Both projected net revenues and Adjusted EBITDA are at the high-end of the Company’s most recent guidance of net revenues between $1.015 billion and $1.025 billion and Adjusted EBITDA between $365 million and $375 million.

“By 2016, we believe Adjusted EBITDA will be in excess of $450 million,” he said.

The Company anticipates a 2012 annual distribution rate of $1.60 per unit, to be paid in $0.40 per unit cash installments, and a record 2013 annual distribution rate of more than $2.00 per unit. “As this record-setting 2013 target distribution would suggest, we are very excited about the future of Cedar Fair,” said Ouimet.

The Fright Factory Really Manufactures Terror!

by: RFR Casket Crew Jigsaw Jim

The Fright Factory

The Fright Factory

Greetings Deadities,

While traveling about Washington State on my annual haunt tour, I came across an excellent haunt in the town of Buckley, Washington. The Fright Factory presents a trifecta of chills and thrills which includes: a house with 8 rooms, an outside orchard with several sets and a 3rd house with 7 sets. They use a minimum of 28 actors but can accommodate 40 – 50 actors to scare the living crap out of up to a 1000 people nightly! Some of their sets really startled us (the infamous Clown Room and the Gallery of Serial Killers forced my friend to change his pants) and they change their themes every season. The Fright Factoryhas been in operation for 16 years in various locations but has been based at its current location in Buckley for the pat 9 years. Open every weekend in October and every week night before Halloween. Admission is $10 (but there’s a $1 off with a donation of a can of food to the local food bank). Well worth the price! Highly recommended to all Deadites. A special thanks to Dennis Wink for his fine hospitality and for producing a truly terrifying experience.

The Haunted Tents – Yakima, WA

by: RFR Casket Crew Unknown Scare Actor

The Haunted Tents

The Haunted Tents

The Haunted Tents.
Yakima’s Premier Home Haunt.

The Haunted Tents Halloween display has been around since 2004. What started out originally with 1) 20 foot
by 20 foot tent and A simple maze, 30 feet long, with 3 simple displays in side has grown over the years. And
now going on our 7 year, we have 6 different tents, 1) 20 foot by 20 foot tent and 5) 10 foot by 10 foot tents
that cover not only our front yard but our gardens and our Drive way as well. Inside the tents you’ll find over
270 feet of maze with 14 different displays hidden within.

As far as a theme goes. For us the Tents are the theme not the displays. And both the Maze and the displays
change from year to year as we add new things and retire old things, In this way we hope that each year will
be both fresh and new to those Trick or Treaters that  stop by and see us every year..

One thing that has stayed the same from the vary first year though is that we try to keep the whole thing
Family orientated. Which means all ages should enjoy the displays, each display has at least 1 animated thing
in it and many of them are designed to started or scare a person. 2 things you wont find is people with chain
saws chasing you around or a lot of gore.

For the 2011 Halloween Season The Haunted Tents hold a lot of new things for our guest to see and enjoy. 4 of
our displays are getting major over hauls this year, One of them with a 9 foot long water feature that will glow
under black light,, we are vary excited about this. Also we will be adding a lot of new props to many of the
displays, but im not going to say to much on that and give the surprise away for people.

2 other new items for this year revolve around our hours, the first is that this year we will be open 4 days, last
year we were open only 3 days, and second by popular request instead being open just in the evening we will
now be open during the day as well. The nice thing about this is that the Haunted Tents will Have 2 totally
different feels to it… so you could go through it during the day and see what things look like in broad day light
then return at night and experience the fun.

As with years past, Admission to the Haunted Tents Display is totally FREE, We do Except Cash Donation with a
portion of all Donation going to the Children’s Miracle Network. A local Children’s Charity in our area.

Skellington in the Suburbs

by: RFR Casket Crew Claymation Werewolf

And welcome back to Coast-To-Ghost AM, and as always I am your host, Rhett Kahn. All month, we’ve been presenting a series of personal supernatural encounters. Tonight we have the owner of the Terror Trees Haunted Attraction and paranormal investigator Guy Elliot. He is the author of the new true life horror best seller “Mr. Unlucky”. I want to remind everyone that our sponsor tonight is Claymation Brand Werewolves! when you need werewolves fast and you need them to be doughy, cartoonish and un-intimidating! And now, let’s get to our guest.

R: “Hello Guy, how are you?”
GE: “I’m good, Rhett. I’m good and you?”
R: “Always doing great, Guy! And speaking of great; I’ve been reading Mr. Unlucky and it is absolutely riveting and you say that its completely real?”
GE: “Rhett, I swear this entire story is true.”
R: “It’s just that it really is fantastic but please, go on…We’re ready to believe you!”
GE: “Oh, okay. Thanks…Okay, well it all started out on Halloween night…I know that sounds a little bit cliché but it’s the truth. See, I run what they call a haunted hayride. It’s actually a pretty big deal in that part of Kentucky during October! We get about 5,000 customers a night and cover an area stretching across about 3 acres.”
R: “—Wow! That definitely does sound pretty impressive! I think we all enjoy a good haunted house, or in your case hunted hayride.”
GE: “Yeah, I know I do! Anyway, we had just completed a huge night and had even had a live broadcast from Jonathan Johnson and Rabid Badger of Rotting Flesh Radio…It was amazing! So it was about 3 o’clock in the morning and I was walking the entire haunt path, sort of reveling in my triumph you could say. Of course I had my Fisher Price Super Ghost Detector with me as I normally do if I’m out somewhere on my own. It’s an incredibly sophisticated piece of equipment and is sensitive to the wandering lost souls…spirits so ancient that mortal man cannot even name them. It can also play AM and FM radio and the whole thing runs on just two AAA batteries! So anyway; I was just passing the part of our little show we call the Halloween Tree when I heard a funny noise.”

R: “A noise?”
GE: “Yeah…well it sounded a little like a combination of a breaking tree branch and a creaking door. And a door is exactly what it was…There was a door opening right in the trunk of the Halloween Tree. A door in a tree! It was the damnedest thing!”
R: “—But the tree, you said it was part of your haunted attraction?”
GE: “Yeah. It was part of the tour but it was an actual tree. It’s huge! About six feet around and one of the creepiest looking trees you could ever see. We actually rerouted the path so that the customers would have to walk past it….So a door starts to open in this thing and the wind suddenly kicks up and this figure steps out of it…”
R: “A figure…what was it?”
GE: “That’s a good question; a monster?…A ghost?…All I know is it looked like a skellington, I mean skeleton…Super thin, and unnaturally tall. A skull for a head, bone hands and an black pin-striped tuxedo.”
R: “A tuxedo?”
GE: “Haha! Yeah, it was wearing a sort of tuxedo black gothic-ky outfit. I don’t know what it looked like exactly…The whole thing scared the living *expletive* out of me!”
R: “So did you run? Did you get out of there?”
GE: “Hell no! I had to find out what was going on! I mean it’s so rare that a paranormal investigator actually encounters the uh… the paranormal. And to have a haunted experience in an actual haunted house?!. Wow! That’s the kind of stuff they make terrible horror movies about! I had to follow the creature and see where it was going.”
R: “Yes! And maybe keep it from harming anybody?”
GE: “Uhhhhh Yeah…Sure… Protect people. Anyway, I started trailing this guy, this thing and it was acting very weird….It walked through the little bit of field and the highway that separated us from the town that borders our haunt, and to be honest I was having trouble keeping up. It wasn’t that he was necessarily walking quickly but he took huge steps. His legs alone were nearly as tall as me and they were stick thin; it was almost like watching a giant spider walk. So picture this…by this time it was 8 o’clock on a Saturday morning and I’m chasing behind this ten foot tall gigantic stick thin skeleton wearing a tuxedo. Everyone’s out and about doing what you do on a Saturday morning but no one seems to be noticing this craziness…It actually seemed like I was the only person that saw him. So I’m freaking out and he’s walking around like he’s in an amusement park; analyzing everything and acting like he’s never been in the suburbs before! He inspecting storm drains, picking weeds, taking the license plates off of cars.”

R: “Wow! So no one ever saw any of this besides you? That is hard to believe…Not that I would ever call a ghost hunter a liar but you must agree.”
GE: “Rhett, it would seem hard to believe if I hadn’t experienced it for myself. Fortunately for my credibility I was able to gather proof!”
R: “Did you catch the whole thing on video? Amazing!”
GE: “Well not actually on video, Rhett…As you might know; it is strictly against the bylaws of the International Ghost Hunters Association to capture any kind of irrefutable proof like clear video evidence or several respectable witnesses. Although we are allowed to capture blurry photographs or video that clearly shows random static-ky light orbs that look eerily like flashlights. We are also allowed to record audio! Most of the time this audio consists of garbled background noise interlaced with sounds that may or may not be people saying whatever we decide to write on the subtitles.”
R: “And those garbled audio tracks are always very compelling, but I understand you have something even stronger?”
GE: “that’s right, Danny!”
R: “Rhett.”
GE: “That’s right, Rhett…You see a few minutes in to this creature walking around in childlike wonder, it actually began to sing about what it was seeing. I have the whole thing recorded! It gets a little rough in some spots but you can make out most of it.”
R: “And what proof do you have that it was an actual ghost and not just you or someone else singing and recording it?”
GE: “Anyway, Rhett, I would like if I can to play some of the audio recording for you and your listeners.”
R: “Well I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say we would love to hear it.”

What’s this? What’s this?
There’s pavement everywhere
What’s this?
A shop that cuts your hair
What’s this?
I can’t believe my eyes
I must be **Unintelligible**

What’s this? What’s this?
There’s people cutting grass
What’s this?
The lower middle class

What’s this?
The streets are lined with
Steel and concrete storm-drains
Everybody seems so mundane
Have I possibly gone insane?
What is this?
What’s this?

There are children throwing litter
On someone else’s lawn.
And a place to take your valuables
That you might like to pawn.

There’s people doing taxes.
Though, I don’t know what that means
And I feel down but look around
To see suburban scenes…

Oh, look
What’s this?
They’re hanging yard sale signs, on poles.
Why they’re so poorly made, cardboard!
They’re putting letters in a box?
**static**

Oh look a stand for lemonade, how cute.
Now cops have shut it down.
And why?

They didn’t have a license, but
The cities got to get a cut.
They’ll ticket every car
That’s just a minute past its meter!
This looks grand!
This looks grand!
Oh, can I ever understand?
What’s this?

Oh my, what now?
A swimmer’s hair is green?
Their pool,
Has way to much chlorine!
No weeds, to ruin their perfect front lawns
Or stray leaves to fall and terrorize…
From nature they stay sterilized….
What’s this?

There selling soap door to door
That no one wants to buy.
And no one seems to even chase
That sweaty jogging guy.

I hear the screams of people
Watching sports on their TV’s.
It seems unreal that people place
Their hopes on things like these….

The drab! The plain!
Everything all looks the same!
I’ve never been quite this content!
Who ever could imagine I’d see so much white bread.
I won’t complain but it’s a shame I happen to be dead.

I want it, oh, I want it!
I’ve began to finally see
How unlucky
How unlucky
To be stuck in Halloween
Instead of this…
Planned…community.

—-End Audio—

GE: “So you see, Tim…”
R: “Rhett.”
GE: “So you see, Rhett…It couldn’t possible have been anything but a genuine paranormal experience. How else do you explain the word play and sophisticated rhyme scheme? This sighting has opened my eyes. Ghosts, goblins and everything that I’ve dedicated my life to is real…And all they want is what we already have! So I’ve decided to enjoy the things around me. The simple, the mundane…There is beauty in all of it and it’s time I learned to appreciate it. So I’ve decided to change my life! I’m leaving all of this ghost hunting behind. No more spirits, no more goblins and no more walking around at midnight in abandoned hospitals! From now on, it’s the plain life for me!”
R: “Are you also giving up running the haunt as well?”
GE: “No way! Haunted houses kick ass!”

And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen! A spine tingling tale of a life changing brush with “the other side”. And sadly, that’s all the time we have tonight.

If you’ve enjoyed tonight’s show half as much as I enjoyed bringing it to you, then I’ve enjoyed it twice as much as you have. Until next time, sit back, relax and rot away…and have a nice day!

Terror Behind The Walls Kicks Off Their 20th Anniversary with 2 ALL-NEW Attractions

The Terror Behind the Walls

The Terror Behind the Walls

Over the years of Rotting Flesh Radio doing Featured Haunt Tours all season long, a few times we have had the pleasure of experiencing The Terror Behind The Walls at the Eastern State Penn.

We have had the pleasure of seeing it behind the scenes, during the run, the after hours spooks and more. And now for their 20th Anniversary, it is ready to scare up a new generation!

Terror Behind the Walls, America’s largest haunted house, celebrates 20 years with two brand new, state-of-the-art attractions, a special Encore Night, and the return of the Eastern State After Dark VIP Tour.

Eastern State Penn's Terror Behind the Walls

Eastern State Penn's Terror Behind the Walls

Located inside the walls of Eastern State Penitentiary, a real massive abandoned prison at 22nd Street and Fairmount Avenue in Philadelphia, PA, Terror Behind the Walls attracts over 100,000 visitors from around the world and is consistently ranked among the top 10 haunted attractions in the country. In 2011, Terror Behind the Walls runs on select evenings from September 23 through November 12.

Two New Attractions:
For the first time ever, the event designers are launching two brand new attractions in a single year. The Gauntlet is a high energy opening attraction for the show, featuring overhead catwalks and custom props above an outdoor maze. The second new attraction, Break Out!, is a new finale consisting of an outdoor scare zone in the final courtyard before visitors leave the event.

The Eastern State Penn

The Eastern State Penn

20 Year Encore Night:
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Terror Behind the Walls, there will be a special encore performance on Saturday, November 12, 2011. On this night only, visitors will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with haunted house owners and operators from around the country who will be converging on Eastern State Penitentiary for a first ever postseason performance of Terror Behind the Walls. Also on hand will be paranormal celebrities talking about some of the firsthand experiences they’ve had with real ghosts inside the penitentiary complex. Admission to the event includes all six haunted attractions of Terror Behind the Walls. Tickets for Encore Night are limited and must be purchased in advance online.

Eastern State After Dark VIP Tour:
After an extremely popular first year, Eastern State Penitentiary’s “After Dark VIP Tour” returns for 2011. This ultimate Halloween experience begins with an hour-long, guided flashlight walking tour of this National Historic Landmark. Highlights include the cellblocks, Death Row, Al Capone’s cell, and the underground punishment cells below Cellblock 14. Following the tour, guests will be escorted to the front of the Terror Behind the Walls’ lines. Visitors can remember their evening with a souvenir photo, taken inside the penitentiary, and a special Terror Behind the Walls LED flashlight (included in admission).

Eastern State Penitentiary's Terror Behind the Walls

Eastern State Penitentiary's Terror Behind the Walls

The “Eastern State After Dark VIP Tour” is $79 per person Sundays through Thursdays and $99 per person on Fridays and Saturdays. Available dates and times are listed on the Terror Behind the Walls website at www.EasternState.org/viptour . Each tour is limited to 20 people. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

A Massive Haunted House in a Real Prison:
Set inside the massive castle-like walls of Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, the setting for Terror Behind the Walls is creepy in itself. Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a lost world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. This gothic structure, with soaring 30-foot high fortress walls, is intimidating enough during the day. At night, the cellblocks fall into darkness, and the building becomes truly terrifying.

Terror Behind the Walls has grown from a single-night event in 1991 to a 29-night event with shows selling out far in advance. Nearly half of the visitors who attended the event in 2010 traveled to Philadelphia for the event, coming from as far as California, China and the United Kingdom, making this event a national and international destination for thrill-seekers and Halloween lovers.

An extraordinary theatrical production, Terror Behind the Walls features Hollywood-quality sets, custom-designed props, animatronics, and digital sound effects, all taking place within the walls of the prison. It takes an elite team of 14 makeup artists almost three hours to prepare the cast of more than 200 performers each evening.

Daytime Prison Tours:
In addition to the nighttime haunted attraction, Eastern State Penitentiary is a National Historic Landmark with a rich history that visitors can experience in the daylight. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, Eastern State Penitentiary opened in 1829 as the world’s first true “penitentiary,” a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone. Tours today include the cellblocks, solitary punishment cells, Al Capone’s Cell, and Death Row. Eastern State Penitentiary is open every day year round from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for daytime prison tours. Admission includes “The Voices of Eastern State” Audio Tour narrated by actor Steve Buscemi. For information on daytime historic tours, please visit www.EasternState.org or call (215) 236-3300.

Morey’s FEARS: Terror on the Boardwalk is Coming

Morey Pier's FEARS

Morey Pier's FEARS

Imagine strolling through Morey’s Mariners Landing Pier at night without the welcoming light show of the Ferris wheel. Rides lie dark and dismantled. Somewhere in the distance there’s laughter, but it’s not the happy, carefree variety that comes with spinning the teacups too fast.

Morey’s FEARS is designed to be one of the most intense Halloween attractions out there,” said Dino Fazio, Director of Pier Operations. “We’re putting our own twist on ten years of haunt research to make this event unforgettable.”

The Ghost Ship, having undergone numerous changes before the start of the 2011 season to make the experience more intense and immersive, will serve as a centerpiece for Morey’s FEARS.

“We’re significantly increasing the number of actors in the Ghost Ship,” said Terry O’Brien, Ghost Ship Manager. “It’s going to be a non-stop nightmare.”

Morey’s FEARS will feature a supercharged Ghost Ship experience, themed food and drink, dark versions of the Sea Serpent, Super Scooters, Teacups, Pirates of the Wildwoods, Rollie’s Coaster, Moby Dick and the Musik Express as well as a couple of all-new Morey’s FEARS only attractions, among other shocking surprises.

“Two new mazes have been designed in house by the talented team responsible for the hugely successful and ever-changing Ghost Ship,” said Jack Morey, Vice President of Morey’s Piers.

FEARS is Ready for YOU!

FEARS is Ready for YOU!

Walk through looming corn stalks in Cornstalkers – a horrifying corn maze situated on the beach near Mariner’s Landing featuring a custom soundtrack designed to disorient and terrify guests. In addition, clowns that no circus wanted run rampant in CarnEvil – a truly twisted carnival maze sprawling over one quarter of the pier. There will be plenty of other scream-inducing surprises packed into the pier as well.

A team of 16 makeup artists is preparing to mutate more than 50 actors into creepy clowns, living scarecrows and denizens of the undead with unique makeup looks.

“We’re working on hundreds of costumes for various characters,” said O’Brien. “Our actors will be clad in a variety of shop made and hand crafted costumes, all designed to instill fear and unease in any guest unfortunate enough to encounter them.”

Morey’s FEARS – Terror on the Boardwalk will take place on Fri. and Sat. nights, Oct. 14 through 29 from 6:30-11 p.m. This is a gated event and admission will be required. Tickets are $25 and include unlimited access to all available rides and attractions for the night.

Be warned: Morey’s FEARS is NOT for the faint of heart (or children under 8). Guests are not permitted to wear masks, costumes and/or makeup to the event.
