Shrekless: A Halloween Special Set To Air

As we have stated in a previous post about It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, holiday specials are very few in today’s society of bubble wrapping your kids and living p.c.

Well just in time for Halloween will be an All-New Halloween Special from your friends in the land of Shrek. Now Shrek may have said goodbye in the last installment of the film franchise, but Dreamworks has reported that it is teaming up with NBC to create some all new animated holiday specials.

First up will be Shrek in Shrekless. This will be airing on October 28, 2010 and will have Fiona, Donkey, Shrek and the spending the night in Lord Farquaad’s Haunted Castle telling each other ghost stories. This will also be paired along side the re-airing of Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space.

They may not be the holiday specials living up to the Great Pumpkin, but hey we can’t be choosy when getting some Halloween Flair for once. In addition to this they will also have a Christmas Special with Kung Fu Panda and some other goodies.

So set your DVR, sit in front of the boob tube and have some good old fashioned Halloween fun on October 28th.

As a child life was much more simple. Less channels to watch and it was a time when society didn’t blacklist holidays or holiday specials.

Those were the moments you remember as a child, seasonal items you grew up watching right before trick or treating and so on. I have made sure to introduce many of these to our children and now we can do it in full 1080p High Definition! Today’s marks the release of It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown out on Blu-Ray.

Yes, the annual CLASSIC has returned for a new generation to enjoy. This first time release on Blu-Ray will dazzle you as the crisp crystal clear lines and true art can be seen and appreciated from the artists animation to the sound and full Halloween experience.

Aside from the crystal clear clarity of Blu-Ray it does offer some bonus features, many of which happen to be part of the previous Remastered DVD, but still remain fun to enjoy. You will be able to watch in addition to Great Pumpkin, It’s Magic Charlie Brown where a monumental thing happens in Charlie kicking the football for the first time that us as viewers ever see.

You also can enjoy the ever popular documentary We Need a Blockbuster Charlie Brown where they follow the team behind The Great Pumpkin and how it came to be.

In addition to the Blu-Ray you get the added plus DVD so you can watch it on the go, basic players in kids rooms and more.

Theater of Terror Haunted House to Host Haunt-O-Ween Event

Each haunt season a variety of haunted attractions take fright in many locations, places and a most of all abandoned buildings. One of the most unique buildings to host a haunt is in a Movie Theater. So much potential. Well Psychomania-Theater of Terror has done just that. And this year hosting a first ever for an excellent cause.

PsychoMania – Theater of Terror is a 12,000 square foot haunted house which has been built inside an abandoned movie theater in Clarksville, Indiana. The Haunted Attraction has been open for the past three years terrifying its customers.

On September 18th PsychoMania, will host the first Hauntoween Event to benefit The Center for Courageous Kids. Come dressed to scream or dressed to impress. The haunted house will open 8pm-12am.

There will also be lobby events including a bake sale of Halloween style bakery goods, Halloween items for sale (aka Ironstock type sale), Halloween music and more. You can currently get you tickets to event in advance via online right now.

Sea World Halloween Spooktacular ready for 2010!

With the haunt season creeping up around the corner many haunts are gearing up and ready to open their doors. This also goes for the big theme parks as well. With so many continuing to jump on the Halloween train like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, along side with Bush Garden’s Howl-O-Scream it is proving to be a good year for the big parks as well. And one thing some of the big parks offer is family fun.

I, like most of you love the horror, gore, scare and terrifying things that happen at a haunt, but I, also like you Deadites have young children as well. So this brings me to the new 2010 Sea World Spooktacular.

This year the annual event is offering Abby Cadabby’s Halloween Adventure, a maze that is high in color and fun for the children. This is also where you can meet Abby Cadabby herself at the end of the maze. The Sea World Spooktacular also offers trick or treating around the park at a variety of stops with many of the candy givers dressed as your favorite sea creatures, sea world friends and more.

This event continues to grow and be a family favorite along side the Walt Disney World Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Unlike Disney though this is all included with your general admission to the Sea World Adventure Park. You can however get add-ons to your event fun with a Count Von Count Breakfast where you can have photos taken with Sesame Street Characters or a Sea World Spooky Sleepover.

On the internet you can find some pretty sweet blogs with so many out there. And we have seen our share of blogs. Well one of them we came across was The Witch’s Hat.

This blog gives you a look at things for the Halloween and Horror Enthusiast. It’s fun, light hearted and keeping you in the true Halloween spirit we all grew up with. Now I do have to say we found this blog because of his mention of Rotting Flesh Radio. He recently wrote about how so many podcasts are popping up, many come and go, but gave Mad Haunt Props to those of us who started the trend in this industry with 4 or more years under our belts.

Thank you for the mention. But all of you Deadites, above and beyond that, we have found this blog to be a total fun read for that Halloween tidbit you are looking for to keeping you in the mood.

Even though the Haunt Season is just now approaching and finally here, we are already thinking of you vendors and the upcoming Transworld Halloween and Attractions Show coming to America’s Center in St. Louis once again during March 10-13, 2011.

This annual trek is a must show at for any haunt vendor wanting to make a splash and get those early sales for the 2011 Haunt Season. Once again Rotting Flesh Radio will be vending there and will have something very special to debut. Want to Stay in a Haunted Mansion Room? Disney May Have it Happen!

So for many years growing up many of us who have a love of Disney’s Haunted Mansion always dreamed of staying overnight in the Mansion itself. This of course was never going to happen, but it did fuel our love of Halloween, Spookiness and Haunted Houses.

So it seems recently according to WDW Magic, Disney has been dishing out surveys to see what kind of rooms guests would like to see next in the Moderate Level Resorts. This is much like the Pirates of the Caribbean rooms that were added in recent years.

According to many of the forum and thread users at WDW Magic, Disney has been using these surveys along with concept art and asking their opinions. Now this would go beyond just a Haunted Mansion Room. There was also talk of a Princess Room, and a Royal Room etc. Here is the description for the Haunted Mansion Room:

“Come spend the night with a few of the happy haunts who play in an enchanted bedroom inspired by the Haunted Mansion. Rest atop the floating Doom Buggy beds with a couple of friendly spooks and watch glow-in-the-dark, cartoon-like footsteps mysteriously appear as the evening sets in. A sliding bookcase creates a hidden passage to the bathroom and is the perfect hiding place for a hitch-hiking ghost. Oversized furnishings with curvy lines and bright colors add to the whimsy in the room. Guests will delight in finding the hidden special effects that play up the merry, rather than scary, room ambiance.”

I know I for one would LOVE to see a Haunted Mansion room surface at the Disney Resorts. Sound off, what would you think?
