The Bates Motel Goes From Scary to Merry

As we have been discussing the transformation from Haunt to Holiday Fun on the show and on the site, we another another one for you.

One of the America Haunts Attractions that was featured on television as well is the The Bates Motel. This event is nationally recognized and has been talked about for many years. John Kennedy, met up with Rotting Flesh Radio shortly after his visit to the Bates Motel and he loved the event. In addition, when the L.A. Haunted Hayride stopped in on RFR, they too discussed how Bates helped them get their hayride feet off the ground.

The Bates Motel continues to scare yearly with the Bates Motel Attraction, Haunted Hayride and more. People run in terror every October and Haunt Season.

Well in addition to providing a high end Haunted Attraction, the Bates Motel has made the transformation for the Christmas Holiday Season with the Arasapha Farm’s Holiday Hayride.

“This heartwarming attraction includes a delightful ride on one of our sound equipped hay wagons, through the rolling hills of Arasapha Farm, which has been transformed into a winter wonderland filled with huge light displays, decorated trees and buildings, bridges and brooks. Come face to face with real, live Reindeer and see a beautifully animated Santa’s workshop.

The hayride last about 20 minutes and is choreographed with all the favorite songs of the season. After the hay ride, relax by our bonfires or warm up with a cup of cocoa. This all new holiday hayride is perfect for all ages. Have your picture taken with Santa, and get an up close look at our famous live nativity scene that features real animals and actors. Choose from hundreds of beautiful, fresh cut Christmas Trees that include Douglas Fir, Concolor, and the ever favorite Fraser Fir. Deliveries available. We also have Wreaths and trimmings.”

The event continues to be a favorite and now you can get into the Holiday mood with your favorite Haunted Hayride. The event runs through December 23rd from 6:00-9:00 P.M. (weather permitting) and while there you can also pick up your fresh Christmas Tree to take home, decorate, and spread the Holiday Cheer.

Nox Arcana’s Winter’s Eve Arrives

What is a Haunt Industry artist to do in the down season? Create Christmas Music of course! Nox Arcana has released a full library of Haunt Industry tunes and melodies of fear for your Haunted Attraction and now in time for Christmas they have gone Solstice in “Winter’s Eve”.

“Explore a spellbinding sounsdscape of haunting melodies and winter magic. As the first snow mingles with stardust and moonlight, an enchanted kingdom comes to life once again, deep in the Ebonshire forest. The White Queen of Winter returns to cast her ancient spell of slumber, and as the woodlands drift to sleep, she watches over a tranquil realm of wondrous dreams and memories frozen in time.”

Winter’s Eve does just that. Nox Arcana takes this theme and carries it throughout the album and playlist. With tracks like The Messenger, The Rose of Winter, Ideas of December, Starlight Serenade and others, they musically compose and bring together the sound all us Haunters have come to love, while staying true to a simple melodic Christmas.

This album is a nice addition to your Seasonal playlist and really is a breath of fresh air to the standard Holiday musings we hear daily.

To purchase your copy as a Digital Download or a Physical CD be sure to visit: www.NoxArcana.com/WintersEve

Also while there, you may also purchase Seasonal Greeting Cards with the Winter’s Eve Artwork on the face card at: www.NoxArcana.com/Cards

GIVE A LISTEN TO THE WINTER’S EVE MEDLEY

About Nox Arcana:
The band’s name Nox Arcana is derived from two Latin words, which roughly translate to “mysteries of the night.” It is a great interest in ancient lore, gothic literature and classic horror that unites these two composers, Joseph Vargo and William Piotrowski, in their neverending quest into shadowy and dangerous realms.

Nox Arcana’s haunting Gothic soundtracks are often used in independent films, in theme parks during Halloween, and for role-playing games. Their debut album, Darklore Manor, was featured as the musical score for a televised special of the 1922 silent film classic, Nosferatu, and has spawned a book of original horror stories, The Legend of Darklore Manor and Other Tales of Terror.

Ghostly Manor’s Christmas Lights Spectacular

As we discussed on last week’s show with Spookywoods Haunted Attraction changing over to a Christmas Event, another Haunted Attraction is doing the same at Ghostly Manor with the Third Annual Criscione Christmas Light Show Spectacular

Ghostly Manor Thrill Center proudly presents the third annual Criscione Christmas Light Show Spectacular during the 2009 holiday season. The event kicked off on Thanksgiving Day and runs through December 31st 2009. This Christmas Celebrated Light Show will run daily from 6PM to midnight with show times running every half hour.

This is just another way to continue utilizing your haunted attraction to bring Holiday Cheer to others and increase your revenue to customers well after Halloween and the Haunt Season wraps up.

Ghostly Manor states: “Our light show is, hands-down, the best in the area,” said Bill Criscione, Owner, Ghostly Manor Thrill Center. “From a technical standpoint, all seven songs that play during our 25 minute show are synchronized with over 75,000 lights. The show will be broadcast live on radio station 99.7 FM so you and your family can enjoy the sights and sounds from the comfort of your warm automobile.”

“This is our way of giving back to the community during the Christmas season,” said Jayme Criscione, Promotional Supervisor, Ghostly Manor Thrill Center. “Our incredible light show is free to attend, but we strongly encourage each family to donate either money or non-perishable food items. All proceeds will go to Victory Kitchen to help the less fortunate members of our community during the cold winter months.”

If you would like to experience some Holiday Cheer and do it by supporting your favorite local Haunted Event, if you are from the area, then the Third Annual Criscione Christmas Light Show Spectacular is the place to be!

You can visit this spectacular at: Ghostly Manor, 3319 Milan Rd. Rt. 250, Sandusky, OH 44870. DefToons Scary Christmas Collections and Custom Work Ready

December 1, 2009 Halloween, Horror, News No Comments

Press Release from DefToons

Some big Christmas deals are going on this month, see below for details. We’ll start with the biggest one:

School: A Ghost Story now has the first four issues collected in a paperback edition and will be sold through Discount Comic Book Service for the month of December for an incredible sale. The collected volume (144 pages of black-and-white artwork) will be on sale through the month of December for $10.17 and is sold alongside the 96-page School: A Ghost Story #5, which they will also have for sale at $9.75, and they have a packaged sale that includes a free 14”x17” School poster for those who buy both issues.

Normally the collected trade goes for $18.00 and issue #5 goes for $15.00 – so for those who stopped by my table at a convention but wasn’t able to pick up a copy at the time, this month is the perfect time to jump on. Hell, this could be a great Christmas gift for anyone you know that is into dark horror or gothic comics. And you get a free poster to boot! For twenty dollars you get 240 pages of hard black-and-white horror comic storytelling and a nice piece of wall decoration. I can’t think of a better deal for new comics right now honestly, but then again I might be biased.

Christmas Commission Sale!

For the month of December, I will draw anything you like in pen-and-ink on a 9”x12” paper for $10 plus $2 shipping and handling, and for those wanting a 9”x12” color painting on board, the going price for December is a paltry $50.00 plus $3.00 shipping and handling. This doesn’t even have to be pin-ups, it can be whatever you like! Have someone that would love some cool art for Christmas, give me a holler at deftoons@deftoons.com, or go to DefToons Website.

Thanks for checking into the Deftoons Sanitarium – come for delightful horror, stay for the madness.

Be sure to visit the entire store at: www.DefToons.com

Pale Night Productions End of the Year BLOWOUT!

One of the most talked about vendors this past Haunt Season was Pale Night Productions and most of all their Asylum Door. And we have to admit, that item ruled at every Haunt we toured this season. Well, as the we continue with the RFR 5th Annual Morbidly Merry Christmas Celebration, why not some great Christmas Deals for you?

Pale Night Productions is having a huge BLOWOUT SALE for One Month and One Month only! Pale Night Productions will be offering some great deals on many of their already Low Priced products.

They have a large variety of items including that Asylum Door we mentioned. The Asylum Door is slashed and chopped to $3150 which normally retails for $3750. This animation is the first of it’s kind integrating CGI with an animatronic to create a truly unique effect. When triggered, a ghoul is seen coming down the hallway. She then attempts to break through the glass before hacking at the door with her axe which leaves actual dents in the door. The Asylum Door also comes with a full digital sound track. This prop must be seen to be appreciated.

Price includes pre-programmed control hardware, solid state video player, monitor, flow control valves, digital sound module, 6in. by 23in. mat switch trigger, and all necessary electrical and pneumatic connections. Prop connects to air lines with a 1/4in. male quick connect coupling. Requires 100psi compressed air and 110VAC electrical.

In addition they have their Cold Fogger for only $175. The Cold Fogger is everything you ever wanted from a fog machine and could never have. To begin with, it runs on mere tap water with no additives what so ever so there’s never any fog fluid to constantly replace. In addition, it produces a cold, dry ice like fog in seconds that hugs the floor or surface of your water source and if placed in a container like an oil drum the fog will spill over the sides and cascade to the floor. The effect is amazing and really must be seen to be believed.

There is even more items we have not mentioned so be sure to check out their BLOWOUT SALE page. And to top it off any order placed during this event must be paid in full by 12/31/2009 to receive the discounts listed…but products can be shipped early in 2010, held until the Transworld show for pick-up, or held until closer to haunt season 2010 for shipment. And you can also save on every other product in their entire inventory not listed on the sale page for an additional 10% off the already great retail prices.
