NEVER Forget This Day...9-11

NEVER Forget This Day...9-11

As we here at Rotting Flesh Radio are working here in the Studios, it is very important today for everyone to take some time and Remember, Honor and most of all, NEVER forget those acts of terror on 9-11 on this 10th Anniversary of that fateful historic day in American History.

Today serves as a day to remember those who put their lives at risk to save and help those in need. To remember those responders who never think twice about stepping into danger just to help and attend to that one person who also has family to get home to.

Today also is a day we should NEVER forget as Americans. As Americans we are FREE, have a wonderful country to live in, be proud of and excel in our hopes and dreams. On that day of 9-11, those cowardly acts of terrorism displayed enraged many, brought tears to our eyes and we remember exactly where we were that day in time. It is a day that made us realize, that there is a world out there that don’t like America, Americans, or the right live as we do. It is a day to remember that we need to protect our country and its people no matter how safe we may feel.

At Rotting Flesh Radio, on behalfth of myself, the Casket Crew, and all of our Listeners, we bow our heads, take a moment of silence and Remember, Honor and Never Forget this day in History “9-11″

On Memorial Day, Rotting Flesh Radio Takes a Moment to Honor

On this holiday, where many of us are camping, grilling out, taking a break from building our haunts, prepping for MHC next week, it is time to take a true moment and recall what today is truly for.

So in a moment of silence, Rotting Flesh Radio would like to take that time and honor the vets, those is the services, and most of all, those who contributed to making us all FREE! Without these freedoms we couldn’t live the way we do, build a haunt and scare patrons at our will, and raise our families in the land of the free.

Freedom never comes easy, and it also should NEVER be forgotten how it came to be. THANK YOU!

American Vampire Issue #5

November 17, 2010 Halloween, Horror, News No Comments

by: RFR Casket Crew Denise

Hey Deadites,

It’s time to pay a call on Miss Pearl Jones and Mr. Skinner Sweet. It seems like it’s been quite  awhile since we last visited them and that’s partly my fault. I thought I was on the same page as they were, but discovered I was actually one page back. But I will guarantee you that it’s an easy fix. So with that said, let’s dive into this Issue #5 of American Vampire

It seems that Miss Pearl Jones has recovered from the attack by the old world vampires and betrayal of her best friend Hattie. Now she’s out for revenge…and she’s not alone.

She heads back to the mansion and the old vampire pack with Henry. While they were out hunting for her, she was mounting her fury for a head-on attack. As she begins to cut their numbers, Bernie, the main man himself, takes Henry hostage. She demands his release so she can settle things one-on-one but Bernie disagrees.

Oh, but we can’t, my dear. This fight is much bigger than you can imagine. It’s a war, you see–a war you and your kind will never win. You might be stronger than we are, Ms. Jones, but we are many…and we have been here, in your country, since before it was a country and we are everywhere. We are the true line…and you are nothing but an abomination.

That’s was probably the wrong thing to say…bless his little charred corpse.

But Pearl’s not done yet. She has to visit her old friend and see Hattie’s last Curtain Call. As the sun sets on this chapter, Mr. Skinner Sweet makes Pearl an offer she politely denies. Maybe their paths will cross again, but for now we’ll close this chapter and open the next for Mr. Skinner Sweet – If Thy Right Hand Offend Thee, Cut It Off.

In this latest chapter, we find Mr. Sweet attending the booking signing and press conference of William Blunting. He’s still defending his book, Bad Blood, and trying to convince the audience of the truths held within the pages.

And on that, we can agree. I am a liar, sir. But the truth…the truth is that there’s more to the story than anyone knows…because while this book, Bad Blood, ended with Skinner buried, the heroes triumphant, there was one last terrible chapter to tale…the ending I’ve never told. But tonight I’m here to tell it.

James Book, former lawman, was still fighting a battle he can’t win. He had been bitten by Skinner and is fighting the blood lust within. It was a battle he couldn’t hope to win.

Meanwhile, back at the destroyed mine, men were still looking for the remains of James Book. But what they find who they find, was all together unexpected. These men think they’ve found James Book and escort (sort of) Skinner to the old vampire, Banker Percy’s, ranch.

Well…well…old man Percy. Seems you’re always either burying my ass or diggin it up. I’ll bet you got your reasons for not letting me rot down there this time, though. Don’t you, boss?

Old man Percy had his reasons for digging up Skinner. Yes indeed. But the best laid plans can have disastrous results and unfortunately  old man Percy learns this the die hard way.

And for James Book, he finally found the peace he was looking for after fulfilling a promise with his god daughter. And she fulfilled her promise by sending him to his finally resting place.

So I’m here tonight because I want it to be known, by all of you…that there are monsters out there. Real monsters that walk the roads and rails of this country. But there are also heroes…men who embody the best we have to offer. Men like my friend, James Book…who was more of a hero than any character I could ever dream up. Because Skinner Sweet didn’t win. You understand? James Book never buckled, never gave in. He went to his grave every bit the hero I knew…and if you all need a happy ending, that’s the best I can do.

And the promise James Book fulfilled was to give life to another…an offspring…one who may pose a problem for our old friend Skinner Sweet.

Until next time, Deadites, check for holes and Sit Back, Relax and Rot Away…

The Bates Motel Goes From Scary to Merry

As we have been discussing the transformation from Haunt to Holiday Fun on the show and on the site, we another another one for you.

One of the America Haunts Attractions that was featured on television as well is the The Bates Motel. This event is nationally recognized and has been talked about for many years. John Kennedy, met up with Rotting Flesh Radio shortly after his visit to the Bates Motel and he loved the event. In addition, when the L.A. Haunted Hayride stopped in on RFR, they too discussed how Bates helped them get their hayride feet off the ground.

The Bates Motel continues to scare yearly with the Bates Motel Attraction, Haunted Hayride and more. People run in terror every October and Haunt Season.

Well in addition to providing a high end Haunted Attraction, the Bates Motel has made the transformation for the Christmas Holiday Season with the Arasapha Farm’s Holiday Hayride.

“This heartwarming attraction includes a delightful ride on one of our sound equipped hay wagons, through the rolling hills of Arasapha Farm, which has been transformed into a winter wonderland filled with huge light displays, decorated trees and buildings, bridges and brooks. Come face to face with real, live Reindeer and see a beautifully animated Santa’s workshop.

The hayride last about 20 minutes and is choreographed with all the favorite songs of the season. After the hay ride, relax by our bonfires or warm up with a cup of cocoa. This all new holiday hayride is perfect for all ages. Have your picture taken with Santa, and get an up close look at our famous live nativity scene that features real animals and actors. Choose from hundreds of beautiful, fresh cut Christmas Trees that include Douglas Fir, Concolor, and the ever favorite Fraser Fir. Deliveries available. We also have Wreaths and trimmings.”

The event continues to be a favorite and now you can get into the Holiday mood with your favorite Haunted Hayride. The event runs through December 23rd from 6:00-9:00 P.M. The Nest Haunted House Opens at New Location

September 30, 2009 Halloween, Haunt Industry No Comments

The Nest Haunted House opened Friday, and co-producer Glenn Rea already is planning next year’s event. Previously located in the East Valley, the haunted house now has a five-year lease agreement with CJS Film Studios in Avondale.

“We’re going to build more here,” Rea said. “There’s a barn and another acre I haven’t touched. There’s another film studio here. I might go into those.”

The Nest features $525,000 worth of special effects and more than 80 actors on a walk-through haunt covering more than 20 acres. It was selected by America’s Best Haunts as one of the best attractions in the country, the only Arizona haunted house to receive this accolade, Rea said. The Nest has appeared on local and national television, including a feature on MTV.

All of last year’s actors are back this year, including Rev. Fishcrackers, who has tattoos all over his body of tiny goldfish that look like Pepperidge Farm’s goldfish crackers. His wife is the scary one with red hair. Many actors found the gig listed on Craigslist.com, while others heard about it by word-of-mouth. Wet ’n Wild water park in Glendale also is advertising auditions on Craigslist.com for its haunted house this season. Those auditions are being held Friday.

Meanwhile, Golfland Sunsplash in Mesa will host its second annual Golfland Fright Nights from Oct. 1 through Nov. 1, featuring the Gauntlet Haunted House, Spooktacular Golf and other attractions. Rea has been building haunted houses for 23 years, setting up shop in 13 states and as far away as the Bahamas.

His penchant for haunted houses began when he was growing up in New Jersey in a home with a noisy furnace in the basement. His father would send him on errands downstairs, where he was always afraid to go there alone at night. That gave him the idea to start scaring his friends, sending them downstairs in the dark. That, in turn, led to haunting his mother’s entire house and garage. He hopes to attract more than 30,000 visitors to the Avondale site, compared with 20,000 at two facilities in the East Valley two years ago: Schnepf Farms and Mesa Riverview’s Theater District. The Nest is returning after a one-year hiatus.

As part of America’s Best Haunts’ $1 million Scare Stimulus Package, The Nest and nine other haunted houses across the country will provide free tickets during opening weekend to the unemployed and their families, active military families, firefighters and police officers. To qualify as unemployed for tickets, individuals must show formal state identification that verifies the receipt of unemployment benefits. Firefighter, police and military families must present their government-issued ID cards.

“In these hard economic times, it is understandable that people are scared,” said Steve Kopelman, managing partner and co-producer of the Nest. “But screaming and laughter actually relieve stress, and that is part of the fun of haunted houses. Today’s eerie economic challenges provide a similar experience: You go in scared, you courageously face what’s put in front of you, and you feel relief when you make it to the other side. If our country’s top thrill attractions can help Americans in need to face their fears and scream out their frustrations, we take pride in providing some relief.”

The free tickets are available only during opening weekend, Sept. 25 and 26.

The Nest will be open on select Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 31. Regular tickets are $25, while VIP FastPasses are $35.
