Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern Calls It a Season

November 19, 2009 Halloween, Haunt Industry No Comments

The Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern 2009 season had the most successful haunt yet, exceeding visitor and attendance goals. After investment in the product, the hiring of top producers and increased scares, it paid off!

“Once again we were met by record crowds and capacity nights,” said Hugh Morrow, president of Ruby Falls. “Our team took the uniqueness of our cavern, creativity of our storyline, and the realness of our actors and actresses and brought to life the true eeriness of The Wyrmwood Asylum! Nobody left undisturbed!”

“Nothing short of pure terror can be said about the work Ruby Falls has put into the haunts every year,” said Josh Lang with the Chattanooga Pulse. “Bit by bit, they whittle down your last thoughts of disbelief as you enter thinking this is actually a pleasure cruise, filled with candy and chocolate bubble gum kisses. Chuck E. Cheese is the other way folks.”

HauntWorld.com, the world’s leading haunted attraction website, ranked the Haunted Cavern in the top three Tennessee haunts for the best monsters/actors and most views on the site. The Haunted Cavern was also selected as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society for September 2009. In addition, the attraction received great reviews on social media sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube and blogs, with standard quotes from guests like “This was awesome, I can’t wait till next year!!!”

“Wyrmwood Asylum at the Haunted Cavern will go down in history as one of the best haunted attractions in the southeast if not one of the best in the country,” said Todd Patton with Fear Connection. “Our team outdid themselves as we passionately wove a web of insanity and fear for everyone.”

Todd Patton and Tim Green with Fear Connection began working as a team for Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern in 2006 and this was their fourth year developing, designing and managing the event. They have also helped with a few small independent films and assisting with other haunts in the US. Go to www.ConNooga.com for more info.

You can see many of this year’s Videos at: www.HauntedCavern.com – Videos.

Ruby Falls is a Chattanooga, TN attraction that is home to the tallest and deepest underground waterfall accessible to the public in the United States. Ruby Falls is the first US attraction to have joined the dual Green Globe/Green Certifications Program by Green Globe International, Inc.

Want a Wish or Fortune this Halloween? Get it from Zoltar!

Growing up we remember many things, from pop culture to films that influenced us. I clearly remember a film with Tom Hanks called BIG. In this film, Hanks makes a wish to be a grown up at an old Coney Island Fortune Teller stand. I often wanted something like that to happen to me.

Well, since that was never bound to happen, how about the next closet thing? Zoltar! Zoltar is a fortune teller inspired from the movie BIG. Zoltar was a staple at many piers across the nation from Coney Island to Florida’s Daytona Beach and more. And this interactive actor portraying the role makes it even more creepy by having the Fortune Telling Box mounted on a segway! So now he can torment, read the future and entertain people as they try to run in fear, or follow along in curiosity. Zoltar took FIRST PLACE in the 2009 Coney Island Mermaid Parade, and is gaining his own following of admirers.

Now you can also have Zoltar at your event as well anytrime of the year! You can hire Zoltar to tell fortunes, creep people out, and entertain those guests at events. Zoltar’s master, Jonathan Gleich, has a real job and management frowns on side work, so Zoltar is only available for Friday-Saturday-Sunday appearances. If you need Zoltar for an extended period in strange and wondrous lands, Jonathan has three weeks vacation sometime in the year.

So for some Halloween fun and fortune, ASK ZOLTAR and maybe, just maybe in true Tom Hank style, it may come true!

Haunted Hydro Celebrates 20 Years of Fear and Oct. 2 Gets Declared Haunted Hydro Day!

Many haunted attractions come, and yet it has to be said many stay as well. And some are Grandpas. One of those is the Haunted Hydro. This year the Hydro is celebrating 20 Years of Scaring Northern Ohio. This feat is so great for their community that Mayor Terry Overmyer has officially declared October 2nd, to be Haunted Hydro Day in Fremont, Ohio! Now that is something to be said for this Grand Daddy of Haunted Attractions to accomplish.

They Haunted Hydro has been a stop in the Annual Rotting Flesh Radio Haunt Tours and Crazy Bob is a Haunt Icon whether its at the Hydro being your spooky sarcastic MC, or teaching you all the tricks to scare guests in Hauntertainer U. Over the years the Hydro has also been crowned with such achievements as being listed in the top 20 Haunted Houses by MSNBC. The driving team behind the Hydro is Bob and Beth Turner who has kept the Hydro fresh, exciting and live Halloween all year long. And with the assistance of their well trained staff, crew and production team they have turned their Bloody Woods back in the 80s to the Haunted Hydro we know and love today.

Now let’s talk about what you want to know, the attractions. The Haunted Hydro has two featured attractions to get your haunt on. The first, of course, is the Haunted Hydro, a walk through attraction that with its natural spooky and creepiness is even more enhanced by terrors within those walls. In addition they also have the Industrial Mayhem. Now if you are looking for a full night of fright and fun, they have it. On top of two featured attractions, you can spend the entire evening at the Hydro with other side attractions as the Wheel of Fortune/Misfortune, Paintball Alley, and Tarot Card Readings. There is ways you can help local charity causes by Hitting the Haunted Hooptie.

Overall help this haunted attraction boast its 20th year! From haunted attractions, hitting cars, and spinning some very odd wheels it is a night of fun and fright. Bob says that its success is the crew, team, guests and families that keep coming back. The “Hauntertainment” relies on all suspense and little gore. So head on out.

The Crazy Bob himself has said “This is the best year,” he said. “We have more activities and we’ve been charging the same for the last four years.”

Nightmare on Elm Street 2009 Trailer Set to Debut

September 23, 2009 Halloween, Haunt Industry, Horror, News 1 Comment

So as many of you RFR Deadites know, I am not fond of the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street in 2010, there will always only be ONE true Freddy and Nancy! but anyways.

The new Trailer for the remake is set to debut Officially on October 2, 2009 in front of the Zombieland Movie premiere. I am not sure if I like it but I will see it anyways since Zombieland is a must-see film for 2009.

To hear an Interview we did with Robert E. back in 2007 CLICK HERE

As Derek Mears said when he was on RFR “If it sucks we always have the originals.” Until then enjoy the one true Nightmare On Elm Street:

The Top 25 Must-See Haunted Houses of 2009!

September 23, 2009 Halloween, Haunt Industry, News No Comments

Haunted Attraction Magazine and its contributors have traveled across the country visiting haunted attractions and have interviewed haunted house owners about their favorite haunts.

“We think it’s too difficult to say that one haunt is better than another—after all, each haunt has its own style, pace, and thematic approach. So instead of declaring the haunts we like as the “best,” we’re featuring 25 Haunts that we think provide incredible haunting entertainment, unique events, and fantastic fun. We all have different opinions about what we like in a haunt: some like mood, others like gore; some prefer state-of-the-art animatronics, while others love actors. But we all know that the best measure of success lies in whether or not your customers scream. So, after much research and debate, we now present the 25 Must See Haunts for 2009.” John Kennedy, Haunted Attraction Magazine

So now let’s get to this list. And the list will be discussed on upcoming RFR shows with John Kennedy stopping in to explain why these haunts were chosen. Now on to the list!
