This blog gives you a look at things for the Halloween and Horror Enthusiast. It’s fun, light hearted and keeping you in the true Halloween spirit we all grew up with. Now I do have to say we found this blog because of her mention of Rotting Flesh Radio. She recently wrote about how so many podcasts are popping up, many come and go, but gave Mad Haunt Props to those of us who started the trend in this industry with 4 or more years under our belts.

Thank you for the mention. But all of you Deadites, above and beyond that, we have found this blog to be a total fun read for that Halloween tidbit you are looking for to keeping you in the mood.

Stephen King’s done it again with short story Blockade Billy and  Morality. Even though these two stories are short, they still have all the elements that Stephen King brings to his work.

Blockade Billy is narrated by George Grantham, a third base coach for The Titians. William Blakey or Blockade Billy was a catcher for the Davenport Corn Huskers before he was called up to the majors when The Titians lost two catchers during spring training. Catchers should be built like fire plugs.

Blockade Billy is tall and slender although his thighs and butt are more muscular. To the third base coach,  he looks like broken ribs just waiting to happen. But the legend of Blockade Billy began on opening day.

You couldn’t say he called a good game because he didn’t call it. The Dew did that but the first pitch to Frank Milezone was a curve and the kid caught it just fine. Not only that, though, it was just a cunt outside and I never saw a catcher pull one back so fast, not even Yogi. Ump called strike one and it was off to the races.

Blockade Billy manages to win the opening game even though there was some controversy. And like the narrator relates about the opening game day, this story is off to the races. Blockade Billy is a great sport story but there’s an underlining theme – that’s what makes it a really good suspense story. I like how Stephen King presents this story – the author interviewing the narrator as if the story was nonfiction.

I bought the audio book of Blockade Billy so I also got an extra story, Morality. Since I didn’t flip through the print version of this book, I don’t if Morality is included. With that said, I’m not going to say much about it except to say…it’s an excellent griping and suspenseful story that compliments the first.

Next time I’ll be taking a look at issue 2 of American Vampire. This a comic book series written by Scott Synder and Stephen King. I can’t wait to find out what happens to Miss Pearl Jones and Skinner Sweet.

Do you like action? Mystery? Fantasy and all things supernatural? What about a little romance? Look no further. Dark Side of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon combines all the above plus a lot more. Is your mouth watering?

In return for selling their souls, they were sworn into a Artemis’ service and sworn to protect humans from Daimons. And to us humans, these Apollites, Daimons and Dark Hunters all look like….vampires.

The world you know just got ugly. You just stumbled into a war that your kind isn’t suppose to know is happening. Forget everything you thought you knew about physics and science and now imagine a world where mankind is nothing but food to a whole race of people that want to subjugate you. Susan Michaels was once the hottest reporter in Seattle until a major scandal ruined her life and left her writing stories about alien babies and Elvis sightings. Life as she once knew it is over, or so she thinks. She gets a lead on a story that could salvage her career. I have read the majority of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series. They are entertaining and engaging. What I like most about them is the consistency in the anthology of her world. Her characters pop in and out of all her books and their story lines remain in tact. So if you like fantasy, supernatural oddities and mythology rolled up in a nice neat package, then check out Dark Side of the Moon and all the other books in the Dark Hunter series. I’m sure I’ll be getting around to a few more before it’s all said and done.

So it seems recently according to WDW Magic, Disney has been dishing out surveys to see what kind of rooms guests would like to see next in the Moderate Level Resorts. This is much like the Pirates of the Caribbean rooms that were added in recent years.

According to many of the forum and thread users at WDW Magic, Disney has been using these surveys along with concept art and asking their opinions. Now this would go beyond just a Haunted Mansion Room. There was also talk of a Princess Room, and a Royal Room etc. Here is the description for the Haunted Mansion Room:

“Come spend the night with a few of the happy haunts who play in an enchanted bedroom inspired by the Haunted Mansion. Rest atop the floating Doom Buggy beds with a couple of friendly spooks and watch glow-in-the-dark, cartoon-like footsteps mysteriously appear as the evening sets in. A sliding bookcase creates a hidden passage to the bathroom and is the perfect hiding place for a hitch-hiking ghost. Oversized furnishings with curvy lines and bright colors add to the whimsy in the room. Guests will delight in finding the hidden special effects that play up the merry, rather than scary, room ambiance.”

I know I for one would LOVE to see a Haunted Mansion room surface at the Disney Resorts. Sound off, what would you think?

ABOUT the MediEVIL Halloween Scare and Samlesbury Hall:
Samlesbury Hall is a splendid 14th Century Manor House. Over the centuries there have been many changes.

The first hall was built by the D’Ewyas family and situated on the banks of the river Ribble. This was destroyed by Robert the Bruce, after the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, when the Scots went on to ransack and pillage homes along the banks of the river, from Preston to Clitheroe.

Gilbert de Southworth from Warrington married Alice D’Ewyas in the early 1320′s, and five years later built the Great Hall, the oldest part of the existing building.

The current building and grounds are administered by a registered charity known as the Samlesbury Hall Trust whose aim is to preserve the Hall for the people of the area and visitors to Lancashire. The trust was founded in the 1920′s when the Hall was about to be demolished. Since then the Hall has been a museum and Gallery and host to many grand functions.

The Hall is open to the public every day except Saturdays when it is closed for weddings. On this site today, you will discover an ancient, magnificently preserved manor house and gardens, with a colourful history and a wide-ranging programme of year-round events and activities.
