Casket Crew

Rotting Flesh Radio is a show that is made for you Deadites. And because of that we have a crew that digs for all the coverage, attends conventions, entertains you on he show, brings you guests and more. So now here is you chance to meet this motley crew that helps bring RFR to you each week since 2005.

THE MORTICIAN
The Mortician emerged in 2000 from the Dark Damp Labyrinth of the Morgue. A VooDoo Witch Doctor by trade, and Ghost Host by night he keeps the most morbid of parties entertaining and fun.

In 2005 as he prepared for the Halloween Season he decided it was time to go beyond his Annual Halloween Hootenanny and helped establish Rotting Flesh Radio as the Haunt Industry’s FIRST Weekly Broadcast of its kind. You can hear him every week on the show with his Intro and Sign Off making sure he has the “last word” for you Deadites to hear. Beware, because you never know when the Mortician will strike or surface at any event.

JONATHAN: Owner & The Voice
Jonathan, the Owner and Host of Rotting Flesh Radio, has been haunting for his whole life. From his early beginnings doing a Home Haunt, throwing Annual Halloween Parties and finally moving on to working the Pro-Haunt Arena. In the summer of 2005, while driving to the Midwest Haunters Convention, he had this idea to take hold of new technologies and find a way to keep Haunters, Halloween Enthusiasts, Horror Fans all connected in a fun and entertaining way. It was during that weekend he worked out the details with two fellow Haunters and the humble beginnings of Rotting Flesh Radio were born. As the months progressed he soon found himself leaving the haunt he was affiliated with and on October 5, 2005 the first RFR aired.

Since then Rotting Flesh Radio has grown with what has been dubbed as its “Army of Deadite Listeners” making the show grow each and every week. The show has continued to be the Official Media Sponsor for such events as: Midwest Haunters Convention Since 2006, HAuNTcon Since 2007, Transworld Haunt Show in 2007, and a variety of Horror, Haunt and other related fests, conventions and gatherings. You can find RFR Jonathan, and the Casket Crew vending at the RFR Morgue Booth at event, Tradeshows, Conventions and more. Jonathan has been a seminar speaker at many events on Marketing, Advertising and Design pulling in his daytime position as an Art Director and Graphic Designer.

Rotting Flesh Radio continues to evolve every week with the help of its listeners and Jonathan’s drive to make the show the best it can be. And with little Morbid Tidbits like its “Annual Haunt Tours” and its “Morbidly Merry Christmas Celebration” it remains fun, nostalgic and eccentric at times with Jonathan filling it with his vast array of entertainment from the 20s through today.

In 2008, Jonathan & RFR founded Costumes For Kids, a Charity for Children with Disabilities and those Less Fortunate to Celebrate Halloween.

In addition to Rotting Flesh Radio, Jonathan is an Art Director and Senior Graphic Designer for an Advertising Agency working with many high end sports clients, television stations and a variety of companies. His goal is to bring the very best show he can every week to you and make you “feel at home with friends” whether you are a newcomer to the Industry, a Vet or just curious, he wants you to direct the show that you want to hear. As he says, now it is time to: Sit Back, Relax and Rot Away…

BADGER: On-Air Correspondent & Photographer
Rotting Flesh Radio‘s Rabid Badger has been working in haunted houses since he was in 5th grade when he modified his elementary school’s “Tunnel of Terror” by enlisting a friend to cut holes in the tunnel and grab at people with arms covered in ketchup. That simple addition to a lame school haunt convinced him that he could do great things in this industry. Since then he has been designing haunted houses and trails for his church and local VFD’s. In 2001, he visited Scarowinds Haunted Theme Park in Charlotte NC and the next year began acting there. Over the years he learned more about the business side of the industry while working alongside former RFR Casket Crew Member Jessica at Scarowinds. She introduced him to Rotting Flesh Radio in 2007 and was hooked from then on.

Badger become a Casket Crew Member in late 2007 by conducting an interview with the band PsychoCharger, whom he had been friends with for many years. In 2008 he attended his first Midwest Haunters Convention and finally met many of the people who make RFR successful in the rotting flesh. In 2007 Badger created the Charlotte Zombie Walk and has been a makeup artist and actor in two independent horror films, hosts a panel discussion on zombies at ConCarolinas and started Rabid Badger Haunt Consulting. In 2008 he became a certified “Hauntertainer” from Crazy Bob Turner’s “Hauntertainer U”.

Badger does many Voice Overs for RFR and other Attractions and Commercials. Contact him for your event or spot at SpookyVoices.net. He also continues to be an avid photographer for numberous events and the popular RFR Haunt Hotties.

GRUESOME JOE: RFR Musical Morgue
Gruesome Joe is the host of the “Musical Morgue” music review segment on the Haunt Industry’s Original Show Rotting Flesh Radio. Played by actor, director, composer Joseph Williams, he tries to walk the fine line between musical jargon and basic English and provide for the listener an in-depth music review and critique while maintaining an entertaining approach. Gruesome Joe is an avid music lover and is always open to any and all forms of horror/haunt-related/crazy fun music that would be a good fit for the show. The RFR Musical Morgue airs twice a month and is one of our Deadites favorite segments.

During the day, Joseph plays the part of a Finance Manager for a national pet magazine. However–at night his true, fun nature bears its teeth. He becomes a dark, creative madman–conquering both sonics and visuals through both music and graphic and web design. He is the owner of Gruesome Greetings (your source for spooky, horror themed greeting cards!

KATIE LANE: RFR’s Haunting By the Numbers
Katie Lane, the host of Rotting Flesh Radio’sHaunting By the Numbers,” grew up with a passion for all things creepy. As a child, she watched horror movies constantly and created her own costumes and makeup jobs (when it wasn’t Halloween).

Looking for a bigger, bloodier challenge than the traditional stage she had been contenting herself with, she began acting in haunted houses a decade ago and they have been her passion ever since.

Currently, Katie (using the stage name Bansheette Morningstar) tours the country doing makeup and acting at various haunts, conventions, and zombie walks. She conducted seminars at MHC repeatedly, provided haunt consultation, taught makeup courses, made-up teens for high school mock crashes, and trained and managed actors at numerous haunts. She and her husband are co-owners of Raven’s Wolf, a multi-media, multi-medium design and production company based in Cleveland, Ohio that specializes in creating custom work for haunted attractions, from logos to t-shirts to 3D maze panels.

As an award winning makeup artist, costume designer, and actress, Katie has been involved in every aspect of haunt production, from set design and construction to marketing and running production. However, her favorite part remains character development with custom high-end costuming and makeup, and to date she has created over one hundred characters.

You can meet Katie at many haunt conventions and tradeshows and listen to her segment each week on Rotting Flesh Radio.

LAUREN: Animatronic Crypt Keeper
Rotting Flesh Radio’s Animatronic Crypt Keeper, Lauren Lobosky, has only been in this industry since 2008 but nothing has captured her passion and obsession quite like the haunt industry. She didn’t realize she loved Halloween until she looked back on the years where she dressed up in blood and set up a small home haunt every year in high school, but after moving from Southern California, she finally got her start at The Darkness Haunted House in St. Louis, Missouri. With Distortions’ “zombie birth” at TransWorld, multi-haunt actor, technician, actor manager, and casket crew member already on her resume, she finds herself pursuing all kinds of careers in the industry.

Holding a degree in aerospace engineering from Parks College of Saint Louis University, Lauren knows it is no surprise that animatronics are her specialty. If it’s a prop and it moves, she wants to learn how to fix it (because she knows it’s only a matter of time before it breaks). In fact, it’s unusual if she does not get a tool on Christmas and her birthday. She also loves to act, especially in a queue line as one of her primary characters as a Dawson sister. She has recently picked up sliding while managing the actors at The Darkness and has been spotted at the Castle of Carnage, Creepyworld, FearFest, and Netherworld.

If you ever talk to her friends, based on their statements it would be hard to believe that Lauren does anything but haunting. However, when she’s not in school, or at work, or at a haunted house, she does find time to pursue her other passions of first and foremost, Christianity, then NASCAR, and sports like wakeboarding, basketball, gymnastics, or karate. Hanging with her family and friends is a must, but she does note that every passing day means we’re one day closer to Halloween. She laughs at how fast haunting has become her primary hobby because it was just a short time ago that cars and airplanes were the focus. Make sure you introduce yourself to her at conventions or drop her an e-mail – she wants to meet all of you!.

STORM: Bloody Blogger & Part-Time Correspondent
Storm’s instrest in Halloween stems from it is his Grandmother’s birthday. Currently in his 8th year as a professional haunter, starting his career at Spookyworld in it’s last 2 years in Foxboro, MA. From there he moved to his current haunt at Trails To Terror in Wakefield, RI. It is a hayride and walk through and Storm maintains the role of Marketing manager as part of the design and construction team.

Storm first uncovered the joy of Sitting Back, Relaxing and Rotting Away… to RFR after registering for the 2008 MHC. It was also there he attended the Hauntertainer U class with Crazy Bob (same graduating class as Badger). He extended all his Haunt and Horror experiences by reporting them back for you Deadites.

During the day Storm is running an office for an electrical contractor, but always is looking to expand in the haunt industry with new challenges at Trails To Terror, and staring up HauntRI.com. When he is not looking for a “Tunnel of Doom” in a haunt, he is one of our Bloody Bloggers for the RFR Homepage with Haunt, Horror and Humor Rants.

CHERI: Digging Your Own Graveyard Haunt Marketing
Cheri comes to Rotting Flesh Radio with five years of advertising experience. As a child she immediately latched onto the world of Halloween and has been a junkie ever since.

Having a fascination with Bela Lagosi’s “Dracula” from a young age, it was a “no brainer” for her to choose the name Draculas Daughter for the ChatGraveyard. While horror movies are among her favorites, she still loves the old black & white Universal Studios’ monsters best. Ask Cheri your marketing questions.

JIGSAW JIM: Bloody Blogger & Rancid Reviews of Sinister Cinema
Reviews Haunted Attractions and produces his segment “Rancid Reviews of Sinister Cinema” where he reviews horror movies that are old, new and weird.

He interviews celebrities in the horror entertainment industry as well as up and coming actors and producers. Working in a haunted attraction in college sparked his lifetime love of Halloween and horror and he tries to attend as many haunted attractions during the season as in-humanly possible.

During his “normal” day he is a medical supervisor and teaches emergency medical technicians. He is currently writing a history of Horror Cinema. He will be teaching a Health and Safety course at upcoming Haunt Conventions and be seen on Seattle Public Access TV with his own horror show. His interests include cooking, classical music and Hoodoo.

DENISE: Bloody Blogger & Book Reviews
Denise Ollman is a southern gal that loves the horror genre after being introduced to the classics on TV at a young age. In her early teens, she discovered old Tales from the Crypt and Weird Tales comics. Soon after, she began to read stories by Ann Rice, Dean Knootz and Stephen King. It was Stephen King who inspired her to write short horror stories.

Denise joined the Rotting Flesh Radio Casket Crew in 2009 and writes books, comics, horror reviews for RottingFleshRadio.com. Her philosophy is that it doesn’t matter whether you read books, comics or graphic novels as long as the author tells a really great story that engages the reader and opens the imagination to infinite possibilities or impossibilities in reference to the horror realm.

Besides following her at RFR, you can find her at randomthoughtslive.com and examiner.com. Denise lives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex area with her three-year-old Rat Terrier, Daisy.

ANGST GEBER: European Haunt Reviews and Coverage
The Angst Geber (German for Scare Giver) has loved all things Halloween since he was a child, He has volunteered his time in preparation of charity haunts and as an actor. He decided in 2005 that operating a professional haunt was his desire after he completes his service to his country. In 2010 he led a team of volunteers in the building and operation of a community service haunt. Using effects he learned from a number of publications and marketing techniques he learned from Rotting Flesh Radio guests, he was able to increase attendance to the event 5 fold and closed the Haunts Halloween night in the black, for the first time since the event has been run.

The Angst Geber is currently serving the U.S. Army in Europe and spends much of his free time traveling to European Haunts and areas of interest to the Haunt enthusiast. His monthly segments will inform on what European Haunts have to offer as well as speak of the folklore that is the basis for many of our creatures of the night.

UNKNOWN SCARE ACTOR: Haunt Fears / Phobias / Correspondant
Starting with setting up a little yard haunt as a child, with flying ghosts to mechanical hands in the candy bowl, the Unknown Scare-Actor always loved scaring people. Oddly enough, he could not watch a horror movie growing up, but it didn’t stop his love of all things Halloween. The first costume he made for himself was a Gene Simmons costume, complete with the demon wings and using zinc oxide as clown white. Hey, it worked… over his preteen and teen years, he learned how to make his Halloween costumes from household items and a creative imagination.

For 11 years he directed and acted in a Rocky Horror Picture Show live cast in Florida, before taking a 5 year break. After moving to Ohio the acting bug bit him again. he spent 2 years making people lose bladder control at Kings Island Halloween Haunt before taking the suggestions of a couple of friends and making a call to the Dent Schoolhouse, where he can be found lurking about during the haunt season. He remains open minded when it comes to scaring people and is always trying different techniques, searching for the “perfect scare”.

If any deadites want to chime in with scaring techniques that work for them, or are looking for new ideas, shoot him your phobia or idea.

RFR CASKET CREW OF DAYS GONE BY:
Haunted Einstein: Team of Jonathan’s Haunt Mentors who did “Haunted Einstein’s Theories of Evilution”. This segment covered everything from basic knowledge for haunters to tips and tricks for you pros. Combined the team had decades of Haunting under them and were innovators with each haunt they ran. Haunted Einstein (aka Ron and Jon) retired from the Haunt Industry entirely in 2006. The final segment aired on Friday the 13th of that year.

The Doctor and Nurse Raven: The Doctor was the very first movie review person to Rotting Flesh Radio. Back then it was called the “RFR DVD Dungeon”. Twice a month he would be assisted with Nurse Raven and cover some of the most obscure films to cross our paths. The Doctor’s dry humor made for some moments when you wanted to laugh but hesitated and was thinking…did he just say that? The Doctor continues to be active in the Haunt Community with Haunted Attractions and you can still catch a glimpse of him in the TORS Video we have on the RFR YouTube Page. In 2007 The Doctor had too many surgies scheduled and had to step down from being part of the Casket Crew.

Chuck:Chuck provider Rotting Flesh Radio with one of the Most Popular Segments on the program, “The Extra Dead Video and Horror Game Review”. Chuck’s segment was funny, informational and even if you were not a gamer you could not help but listen to him talk. Chuck stepped down to pursue Haunting more avidly in Home and Pro Arenas. RFR wishes Chuck the best in those ventures and we have not seen the last of Chuck in the Haunt Industry.

Jessica: Jessica was one of the first RFR Casket Crew to be an On-Air Correspondent. She worked actively in the Haunt Community. Was an avid actress and brought many interviews and event coverage to Deadites throughout the year. Jessica continues to wander the Haunt Scene but stepped down from RFR during the late part of 2007.

Omro: Following the surgical knives of The Doctor, Omro took over as the RFR Movie Review person in a bi-monthly segment re-named “The Chainsaw Buffet”. Omro covered more of the mainstream movies many of you Deadites attend in the theaters. He worked as one of the Bad Boys Scenic Design for Terror on the Fox for many years as an Actor, and Production Team Member. As Omro (aka Andrew) worked his years as a Haunter he was re-located to Nightmare New England by good friend of RFR, Tattoo. It was during this move and new direction within the Haunt Industry that Omro stepped down from the Chainsaw Buffet in Fall of 2008. You can still find Omro wandering the halls of many conventions and haunted attractions.

Chad Savage: Chad has a bio and reputation in the Haunt Industry that needs no introduction. As one of the Industry’s top Designers, there is a good chance two in every five websites you encounter for a haunt, he created. In the Fall of 2008, Chad took over the role of the Movie expert and made the segment it’s most popular to date with the “Mostly Ghostly: Movie and DVD Review”. Twice a month Chad stopped in with quirkly films, foreign masterpieces, mainstream flicks and rare DVD Releases. His review style and technique was well respected and loved by RFR Deadites. With the nature of Chad’s occupation, he had to remove himself from maintaining the segment because of time restraints. Chad can still be seen everywhere throughout the industry, and he remains as on On-Air Correspondent for the show and Major Sponsor.
