They’re Creepy, Kooky and a Musical? Addams Live on Broadway!

October 28, 2009 Halloween, Haunt Industry, Horror, Music, News No Comments

If you are a horrid musical fan like myself, you like Sweeney Todd, Evil Dead the Musical and Young Frankenstein the Musical. Well with the recent passing of Addams Family Theme Composer Vic Mizzy (read article clicking here), The Addmas Live on in a New Broadway Musical.

“The weird and wonderful family created by The New Yorker cartoonist Charles Addams comes to devilishly delightful life in a Broadway musical. This magnificently macabre new show is created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys), and Olivier Award-winning director/designers Phelim McDermott & Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter), and features lighting by Tony Award-winning designer Natasha Katz (Aida), sound design by Acme Sound Partners (In the Heights) and puppetry by acclaimed Obie Award Winner Basil Twist (Arias With A Twist).

It’s an Addams Family portrait you’ve never seen before. Gomez, all mad impetuosity; Morticia, equal parts fire and ice; Fester, restless and romantic; Pugsley, for whom immediate gratification can’t come soon enough and Wednesday, eighteen years old and finally feeling what it means to be a woman. A family that’s quite shockingly, and endearingly, just like yours.”

This is a musical I know I will make the treck down to the Illinois area to see. With the originality of it all, the songs, and overall essence of the project it is destined to become a cult classic.
