Well it has been released that famed writer Vic Mizzy has passed away on Monday at the wonderful age of 93. His long lost art of television theme songs was his niche, and most of all, many of his songs were catchy, memorable and and had a high influence on jazz and pop culture to them. Mizzy knew the secret to TV Show Writing, and that was make the song memorable, so people would sing it after the fact, or realize while washing dishes, my show is on.

Mostly known for Green Acres and The Addams Family, Mizzy recorded the theme for Addams using his own voice and then overdubbed it three consecutive times. He was actually the musical playing the Harpsichord as well in the catchy tune.

So in remembering the Golden Age of Television Theme Songs, and that Long lost Art, here’s to you Vic Mizzy, you were one of the best.
