The People Who Died’s Jim Carroll Passes on at 60

September 14, 2009 Halloween, Horror, Music, News No Comments

The Punk Rocker, Poet and very accomplished author Jim Carroll has passed on at the age of 60. He was found on Friday September 11 in his Manhattan apartment.

For all of us in the Halloween, Horror and Haunt Industry communities he will always be known for the awesome Punk Anthem…“The People Who Died” from his band the Jim Carroll Band. That song is one that always rocks, and make us love horror that much more. He was also best known by the public as the author of the 1978 book The Basketball Diaries, an autobiographical book that became a career-defining film for Leonardo DiCaprio. The film went on to great acclaim.

His most recent release was in 1998 title “Void of Course”. With his band, The Jim Carroll Band, their first release in 1980 title “Catholic Boy” has been considered by many as the last great punk album. He has worked with Peal Jam, Lou Reed and even Rancid on their current release. Jim is survived by his brother Tom Carroll.

You will be missed and in tribute let’s rock out to “The People Who Died”
